Just because CEO and Son have money doesn't mean that Sprint does. That's an important concept

  • What Do 1,750 New Stores Mean For Sprint? [View article]
As of this moment, Sprint has nothing up its sleave but an extremely high debt to asset ratio and a plan to raise even more debt so that it can be relevant it next years spectrum auction. Trust me, sprint did not want this deal, they did it so they wouldn't lose that retail channel. Losing 4000 stores that sell your phones, that would have been catastrophic to sprint; even if RadioShack's mobile sales weren't significant by telecom standards, would have still been a big loss.

Yeah, and RadioShack went through like six chief financial officers in a two-year span. Didn't mean shit, that's something to keep in mind

I feel the exact same way. I think Chapter 11 is inevitable, but because of the value of the stock Sprint could operate for another 5 to 6 years. At that point Son Will buy the remaining 20% for pennies on the dollar and will have more pull over the FCC than any telecom company in the country. Only then would I be interested in buying Sprint, that is unless they prove me wrong, which I'd be happy with

To the best of my knowledge sprint plans and phones were sold in every last one of RadioShack stores. So this plan on behalf of Sprint is not about gaining something new, but rather holding on to something or not losing that retail channel. The problem is that sprint may keep that channel but it's going to cost more. There's really no way that this is a win.

You just made most of my points, Gerald. They won't have to pay a lot with their store within a store approach. However, sprint plans were already sold in RadioShack stores, therefore sprints not really gaining anything. The only difference is that they now will have to pay something for those locations, regardless of how small, and they will have to staff their own employees. Also, RadioShack did do a lot to try and save its brand, it just couldn't.

And VZ is moving to VoLTE and away from CDMA. Sprint is going to have to address its mobile network, and that will cost billions it doesn't have.

Yahoo Japan is not going to help Sprint, neither will any of the Uber-like investments that Son has in China, Japan, India, and Indonesia.

I tend to agree with you Zod42. I do, however, think that Softbank is a far better way to play it.

AAPL was a solid 10M above expectations, both in China and U.S. the iPhone performed well. Sprint should have done much better than 30k adds
