  • Google Vs. Apple: It's About Scalability [View article]
Sorry...each one of those numbers is in "millions" of dollars...I thought that was obvious since the financial statements are reported the same way.

  • Time To Add Apple To Your Retirement Portfolio [View article]
Except for the timing, your argument is sound...wait a bit for the bottom and then get in.

You point out that the stock could lose 50% of its value and you will still win long term on Dividends...for crying out loud, why wouldn't you just wait 3 to 6 months until the hoopla has died down.

Watch the stock and get in when its found its new value.

  • Why Apple Is Floundering And The Stock Price Is Down [View article]
There is a ton of technical talent at Apple. No shortage...the problem is not the talent, its the ability and willingness to gamble the company's future on wild disruptive projects like...wait, I know...lets create a new phone!?!?! What? No phone manufacturer will build it? Lets do it ourselves and then we'll get the carriers to go along...thats purely jobs. I don't care how much talent, thats an executive decision.

Now all that creativity will be on sustainable innovations to improve existing products.

    No more blockbusters for Apple.

The business is healthy...in fact, Apple is still a great company. It's just a different type of company. Its more of a Microsoft and less of a Google or Facebook.

No longer disruptive...not a sustainable healthy company that is just overpriced.

I agree with most of what you said...but disruptive innovation is Steve Jobs' DNA...not Tim Cook's...they will NOT produce any more disruptive products because you don't do that without rocking the boat...instead, they follow Einhorn's suggestions and do something they didn't do since Sculley, Spindler and Amelio...they pay dividends.

You jumped from the data points of the article to my own opinion that I presented in my conclusion. You don't have to agree with the opinion.

But I do have a question. Are you saying that Android dosn't hvae 65% of the mobile OS market?

There is a lot more to amazon than its retail business...Amazon has made subtle and not so subtle moves to leverage almost every aspect of their business...if you get the big picture with AMZN you can't help but be impressed.

    Craig,

Lukman and MrMatt are right on target. With android, most devices use Google Play along with google search, etc built in. You are building your world around Google this way...who cares if you pay a few bucks for the OS...you'll be paying Google in one way or another as long as you own an Android phone.

Thats the risk. I'm comfortable with that only because of the earnings call. Rumors are the only thing keeping this stock afloat...i can't imagine it will survive the earnings call. Even if it recovers on hype and rumors after the fact, if you time it right and take your profit you'll have a decent return.

  • I Put Borders Out Of Business, Target Is Next [View article]
Thank you tensforme...I know Barnes and Noble is trying like to survive where Borders just sort of rolled over...

    B&N has the following positives...

    * strong online presense
    * growing nook sales and along with that a large audience of repeat customers that don't go away even if they move...

They have to manage their store shutdowns which are inevitable just to change their business to the new model. Store shutdowns will be perceived as weakness by customers including Nook owners...
