  • Profiting From the Precious Metal Bull: Don't Fear the Pullback [View article]
A Chart should not be the only thing one invests on. It's a tool. However, I think you may be discounting the validity of a chart. A chart is a visual representation of EVERYTHING a stock does. It does not discriminate manipulation vs. legitamacy. It represents stock activity margin increases and decreases. It even represents the conviction of a buy or sell move. The point of this article is not to try to discover the true price of silver - only the market will tell us ultimatley. The idea here is, ride the trend, and sometimes, the countertrend.

Silver could go all the way to the 20's and still be in a bull. I'm not saying to be long forever. But this is a great time to play the trends and the relatively large swings of the countertrends as well.

    HI Clanza,

Slim's silver miner is looking to quadruple production in 2011. That's a bullish move. If he's selling at stratospheric prices, he's taking profits. In a way, this is hedging your position.

Now, he never disclosed about buying futures on the way up, just selling at the top. If he didn't buy on the way up, then he's selling - therefore he is shorting - which is hedging his mine's position.

This is my assumption given the data available on the web. But logically if you own a silver mine - you are not being dumb by hedging your gains by shorting silver futures.
