The Daily Short: Thursday March 25th, 2015: INDA

Good Morning Gentlemen and welcome to the The Daily Short. Today we need to talk about India. A massive country on the rise and a huge share of the global population. As you know, the Indian economy is driven largely by their massive amount of raw man power and well developed global service sector. The Daily Short sees a short term pull back for INDA over the next month.

Look out for the Friday article where we track the life of every trade featured in our articles! Feel free to comment and discuss strategies.

At the Daily Short we only look at one side of the market, which allows our readers to gain a unique decision making perspective.

    Technicals:

    1. ) Macro Trend: 50 day simple moving average

    • The current price of INDA at 32.27 is below the 50 day moving average of 32.56
    • Trading Significance: A moving average is simply a slowly updating summery of a dataset. Don't put to much faith in this statistic as it can mislead, but be wary to trade against its direction.

    2. ) Oscillator: Commodity Channel Index (NYSE:CCI) [15 day]

    • The current CCI is -53.78
    • Trading Significance: Developed by Donald Lambert and featured in Commodities magazine in 1980, the Commodity Channel Index (CCI) is a versatile indicator that can be used to identify a new trend or warn of extreme conditions. In general, CCI measures the current price level relative to an average price level over a given period of time. CCI is relatively high when prices are far above their average. CCI is relatively low when prices are far below their average. In this manner, CCI can be used to identify overbought and oversold levels.

    3. ) Micro Mean Reversion: Average Directional Index(NYSE:ADX)[15 day]

    • The current ADX is 12.45
    • Trading Significance: The Average Directional Index (ADX), Minus Directional Indicator (-DI) and Plus Directional Indicator (+DI) represent a group of directional movement indicators that form a trading system developed by Welles Wilder. Wilder designed ADX with commodities and daily prices in mind, but these indicators can also be applied to stocks. The Average Directional Index (ADX) measures trend strength without regard to trend direction.

  • The Daily Short: 03-25-2015: SPXU

The Daily Short: Wednesday March 25th, 2015: SPXU

Good Morning Gentlemen and welcome to the The Daily Short. As you all know, the Federal Reserve of the United States has removed the word 'patience' from their statement, but affirmed that they will still act 'patiently' while inflation numbers are still below target levels. This is bullish, as it means the Fed, will continue to pour billions of dollars into the financial markets. SPXU, is a leveraged inverse S&P 500 ETF. Dangerous, but liquid.

    Technicals:

    1. ) Macro Trend: 50 day simple moving average

    • The current price of SPXU at 34.14 is below the 50 day moving average of 36.79
    • Trading Significance: A moving average is simply a slowly updating summery of a dataset. Don't put to much faith in this statistic as it can mislead, but be wary to trade against its direction.

    2. ) Oscillator: Williams %R [15 day]

    • The current Williams %R is -90.71
    • Trading Significance: The Williams %R is a moving oscillator which measures the current price from the highest price in moving window, which for us is 15. An extremely high or low Williams %R is usually present in a "quickly moving" asset.

    3. ) Micro Mean Reversion: Ease Of Movement (EMV) [15 day]

    • The current EMV is -1.73
    • Trading Significance: As its name implies, it is designed to measure the "ease" of price movement by combining the volume and price data across a range of time. In general, prices are advancing with relative ease when the oscillator is in positive territory. Conversely, prices are declining with relative ease when the oscillator is in negative territory. Developed by Richard Arms.

The Daily Short: Tuesday March 24th, 2015: VNM

Good Morning Gentlemen and welcome to the The Daily Short. Today we look out to the country of Vietnam and the tensions going on in the South China Sea. A speculator knows not to pick up pennies in front of a steam roller, and going long VNM is essentially doing just that. China and Vietnam are not exactly best buddies right now, so look for China to economically choke slam Vietnam.

    Technicals:

    1. ) Macro Trend: 50 day simple moving average

    • The current price of VNM at 17.51 is below the 50 day moving average of 18.78
    • Trading Significance: A moving average is simply a slowly updating summery of a dataset. Don't put to much faith in this statistic as it can mislead, but be wary to trade against its direction.

    2. ) Oscillator: Coppock Curve [15 day]

    • The current Coppock Curve is -16.11
    • Trading Significance: Coppock Curve is simply a smoothed momentum oscillator. It is the combination of a weighted moving average and two Rate-of-change oscillators. The coppock curve can be used with other indicators to indicate short term moves.

    3. ) Micro Mean Reversion: Money Flow Index [15 day]

    • The current Money Flow Index is 11.51
    • Trading Significance: The Money Flow Index or MFI is a volume weighted RSI (relative strength index). A weak MFI reading implies that money is flowing away from this asset.
