We have all heard of solar power, wind power and nuclear power - but have you ever heard of ocean power? Thats right, we are now capable of harnessing the kinetic energy provided by the ocean. There are already ocean power companies publicly traded as well.

One company using the kinetic energy of the ocean to produce power is Ocean Power Technologies (OPTT). The company utilizes the ocean's waves to propel a PowerBuoy up and down. This piston type action creates momentum that propels a generator. This generator is hooked up to an underwater power cable connecting to the shore. Ocean power is both efficient and environmentally friendly, free from any form of pollution. Best of all, the ocean's power potential is virtually limitless since waves are constantly occurring near the shoreline. The PowerBuoy system is extremely efficient and effective in generating power.

Shares
of WellCare Croup (WCG) dropped sharply following an FBI raid of its
Tampa headquarters. The Florida based company provides government sponsored health care services to Medicare and Medicaid programs in the United States. After the raid was announced trading of WellCare common stock was halted by the Securities and Exchange Commission. Shortly after the market open the stock resumed trading and gapped down 70 points. Things didn't get much better throughout the day as the stock closed down 72% ending at $42.67.

Despite the huge impact of the FBI's raid on stock price, company officials refused to provide details on the situation. They also requested that the stock resume trading as soon as possible. The lack of insight into the reasons behind the raid instilled fear into the minds of investors. It is likely that the raid was caused by violations of WellCare's contractual obligations with the government. Un-named sources stated that 40 percent of clients were denied coverage that they might have had. Furthermore, WellCare officials wouldn't respond to these clients being denied coverage. Based on these rumors, the stock was punished throughout the course of the day. Having already gapped down over 50% the stock managed to fade near session lows by market close. It should be noted that several "shady" and perhaps illegal activities occurred in the months leading up to the raid.

Stryker: Sustainable Growth Ahead As Baby Boomers Age

Stryker (SYK), the maker of orthopedic products and specialty medical
devices, had another quality earnings announcement. Earnings were in
line with analyst estimates at 55 cents per share.
Revenue of 1.453 billion came in at the top end of expectations when
compared to the 1.39 billion estimate. The company also re-affirmed
guidance of $2.40 per share for the full year 2007. All in all, the
earnings announcement was slightly better than expected.

With
revenue coming in slightly higher than anticipated and re-affirmed
guidance for full year 2007, the stock price seems cheap here. Shares
were up marginally to $72.50 in after hours trading. A lack of pop in
after hours trading was likely the result of earnings being "baked"
into the stock.

Achieving consistency over a long period of time in the restaurant
business is a difficult task. One company, Yum! Brands, Inc. (YUM) has
done that and more recently beating analyst estimates and raising 2008
earnings estimates. Yum! Brands operates well known names like Taco
Bell, KFC and Pizza Hut. That type of diversity in the restaurant
business has proven to be the key to its earnings power. Yum! Brands has
also started to capitalize on the potential of the overseas market,
being a pioneer in the Chinese food market. It is this expansion into
China that could propel the company's growth in coming years. According
to CEO David Novak, Yum! Brands is opening one new restaurant per day in
China and growing in other countries as well.

A
few things have contributed to the success of Yum! Brands (YUM). The
company's restaurants are heavily saturated within the United States,
but huge growth possibilities exist overseas. Countries like China
could support 10,000-15,000 new restaurants and still not be saturated.
Yum leads the way in re-shaping brands like KFC to meet Chinese
cultural tastes. The company also has a 3-year leg up on its closest
competitors like McDonald's. With China and other emerging countries
representing huge expansion areas, Yum! Brands should have bright times
ahead. Furthermore, its diversity across the world means it also has
less exposure to the weak U.S. dollar.
