The stock has steadily been rising, as has been their sales and growth in the mobile market. It's very likely you're strictly basing your opinion off technical without concern for the turn-around and "dip" in sales that the organization has seen the last 5 years. The bottom line is they are producing more competitive products and seeing a turn around (small as it may be). With the IPhone's once unique-features now being nothing special relative to competing products, Nokia has an excellent opportunity to regain global market-share in 2013.
A lot of this depends on the direction our government goes. If the government becomes more controlling and President Obama continues to pass laws using executive order instead of congress, the public will react by arming themselves more heavily. The USA has a culture of gun-ownership centering around the second-amendment which wasn't written for hunting & fishing as they want us to believe but rather so that we, the public, may arm ourselves heavily to protect against the type of tyrannical governments which ruled over Europe last century.

We went from leather covered parchment to leather covered paper to paper to digital. In one sense, the left says it's good for the environment. In another, the effects of standing behind screens all day long and never actually owning what you buy, just leasing the material meaning you can never sell it. Anyone with a library of 1000+ books knows the $$ value of some of those books increase overtime which is a benefit. I see continued growth in Ebook sales but don't think they will replace printed books for a few more generations.

Cost benefit analysis of charging users would be extremely difficult. Although interesting, there would be too many assumptions to be made for such analysis to be effective. Erik, he is not correlating the price of gold to debt but the price of gold against the US dollar, which derives its value (in purchasing power) from how we handle our monetary and fiscal policy. The point is, the actions which caused gold to rise to these levels may still be in play over the next few years. It may very well go the other way but that seems unlikely given the political situation in the states.
