Berkshire Hathaway: One Stock You Must Own [View article]
Enjoyable article, but it seems to be ultimately more focused on the man and the past, rather then the portfolio the man manages. You don't make money from the man. You make (or lose) money from the portfolio's progress in the open market place going forward, not backwards, in time.
It's considered very dangerous to fall in love with one's own investments. I wonder what is it considered, when one falls in love with the man behind the investments? What if the man behind your investments is also, ultimately, your own self?
Can't help but notice that BRK/B has gone EXACTLY NOWHERE since August 10th. I'm well aware that, that's very short term, but you could have done much better over that small time period by investing in almost anything else. Is the next four months going to be any different? I don't think so. Can't see the need to rush into this one.
However, I'm still very pleased that Uncle Warren bought all my shares of BNI just three market days after I did, and I only wonder why, it took him so long to see the light.
Even so, he is quite welcome to manage that small portion of my portfolio for me for the foreseeable future, but I see no reason to expect super high returns, based solely upon his PAST performance. History suggests otherwise. If only investing could actually be that easy!
