  • Stock Traders Flock Back To Gold ETFs [View article]
I like the miners. More leverage on the same theme of gold rising. Plot the two graphically to see.

  • U.S. rig count down another 43 units for eighth straight week of losses [View news story]
Supply is shoring up, and demand increasing as depressed prices instigate consumption. Basic economic principles indicate a bottom forming here or very near these levels.

  • My Best Idea For 2015 - American Airlines [View article]
I don't want to dumb down this intellegent discussion but the charts tell a different story. The impact of oils decline is already priced in. Why else did ALL airline stocks go parabolic in October? BECAUSE started collapsing at that same time.

The disinformation surrounding RMN. Google changes their algorithm 500 times a year*. Despite this RMN continues to demonstrate strong performance across: revenue, visits, traffic distribution (SEO v. organic) and product efficiency (revenue/visits). Yes visits are down, but seasonally adjusted (June vs. June) this amounts to only 12%**, which is a fraction of what pundits erroneously quote.

Consider the following with respect to traffic origination:
-36% direct referral (inline with Yelp)
-2.7 million Facebook followers (compared to 1 million for Coupons.com)
    -18.5 million app downloads
    -6 million email subscribers

  • Yelp's Growth Increasingly Relies On Its Success With Mobile Ads [View article]
That's the beauty of YELP ads. They are "stealth" in nature. Businesses are able to buy sponsored listings which add functionality and information to their profile. All of which enhances consumer experience. Even more interesting, is the discrete, "you might also consider" ads, which allow companies to "intercept" consumer viewing substitutable offerings in their market, via click through into their profile, where they are greeted with a built-out and information rich profile - thus they are more likely to convert.

  • Private Equity IPOs Keep Flowing: HCA Holdings's $3.5B Offering Expected This Week [View article]
HCA is the dominate owner and operator of facilities within the US. More so, health care reform will reward those with concentrations of power. This is evident by CY 2010/2011 reimbursement cuts at the level of the provider while simultaneous increases at the facility level. The result--forced integration between physicians and facilities. The era of privately practicing physicians is over. As more and more physicians embrace the employment model hospitals will gain better control of their revenue and cost centers.
