HCA is the dominate owner and operator of facilities within the US. More so, health care reform will reward those with concentrations of power. This is evident by CY 2010/2011 reimbursement cuts at the level of the provider while simultaneous increases at the facility level. The result--forced integration between physicians and facilities. The era of privately practicing physicians is over. As more and more physicians embrace the employment model hospitals will gain better control of their revenue and cost centers.
