Portugal has an outsanding geographic position at the edge of a continent in decline but overlooking the more dynamic economies in the americas (US and Brazil) and the growing African continent, and also close enough to the Mediterranean and the Northern Sea.

The great Tabucci book "Sostiene Pereira" was translated into english as "Pereira Delcares" not Sustains.

Clearly Spain is facing some of the same issues as the UA, namelly a slowing economy after the bursting of a real eate bubble and mounting inflationary costs. It will be very interesting to see how the spanish economy fares after a cycle of extraordinary growth.
