  • Xinyuan: A Cheap Housing Stock [View article]
Because it sold shares to TPG at $5.48, this price is lower than book value.

I say book value for the whole company not book value per share.

  • Xinyuan: A Cheap Housing Stock [View article]
The decrease in book value is totally due to company's repurchase of stocks. As a result, treasury stock increased and shareholders equity went down. Not a concern at all.

What's your view regarding the threat from non-free-to-air TV such as cable? I heard the cable TV has increased quite a bit in terms of audience share.

  • Fraud Or No Fraud, NQ Mobile Is A Gamble [View article]
Yes, I'm short. I always put money where my mouth is. The risk-reward for shorting NQ is extremely compelling even at $9.

BTW, if you can't tell that NQ is a fraud, stay away from Chinese stocks.

Both Omer and pgace123 are right. NCTY is way riskier but the potential reward is much higher, so it depends on your risk tolerance and investment objective. Personally NCTY is a bit too much for my risk profile. Also, I don't like the NCTY's CEO, he did some crazy things in the past and sometimes seems not very rational. Anyway, that's only my humble opinion.

It's extremely hard to predict how a new game will perform in the market. Also, strong uptake doesn't necessarily mean the game has staying power going forward. That's why I used a portfolio approach and spread out a bit. Valuation is my No. 1 criteria in picking video game stocks.

  • Now Is The Perfect Time To Play The Shanda Game [View article]
Net asset Netting out intangible and goodwill is around $530M. Plus Actoz share value of $240M equals $770M. Minus some double counting of Actoz, I would say its about its current market cap. But GAME made $200M in non-gap earning in 2012 alone. Very cheap.

CYOU is so dependent on only one game. Also, its ARPU is extremely high. That's why market give it a low multiple.

Yes, you are right about hiring too many celebrities for Rift. It's extremely unwise to pay dear for three celebrities while only offer about 14 days of free play for games. Maybe one celebrity endorsement and 40 days of free play would have done better.

Yes, PWRD is very cheap. But GAME is very cheap too. The cash on its book plus its 51% stake in Actoz worth much more than its market cap.

Yes, the parent company owns more than 75% of GAME and it's pretty easy for the parent company to take GAME private. But since GAME is the only window for the whole group to have access to the financial market (after the parent company SNDA went private), Going private may be the last resort.

If you agree with my portfolio approach, then you may want to diversify a bit.
