    • earljr1: Do you have a favorite? I assume OSHC. I spoke with a top executive at a large bank a few days ago. He said small banks are getting bot

    • earljr1: at 2 x book. So I decided I should maybe start looking a little more. Maybe your CMSB too.

    • Chris DeMuth Jr.: Those are two of my three favorite examples.

    • MOSMan: It was 2X tangible book in the past, but probably closer to 1.25X and creeping to 1.5X more recently. Thank you for the article Chris.

    • toddro: I like the smaller banks trading below book with high cash/share balances and no debt. $GECR and $OPOF have been big hits for me this year
      Aug 29, 3:25 PM
    • MOSMan: At first glance, it appears GECR is trading at a premium to TBV.

    • jaginger: Takeover bid was announced in June http://seekingalpha.com/n/12w03
      Aug 29, 3:53 PM
    • MOSMan: Thanks! That's a nice deal for GECR shareholders.
      Aug 29, 3:57 PM
    • toddro: Yes it was!
      Aug 29, 5:18 PM
    • bazooooka: GECR pop was bigger than expected but some of the above names should do get 30 to 50% premiums..Not bad even if you have to wait a year or 2
      Aug 29, 6:47 PM
    • bazooooka: There are a few more as well. Still good risk/reward in these names. http://bit.ly/1wQeW6T

    • George Yannopoulos: I like $TBNK. Its Chairman and CEO has held those roles since 1986 (he was also named president in 2007), and he's 68 years old.

    • George Yannopoulos: Not necessarily predictive of anything,of course, but it's also cheap and conservatively run; and, as noted, they've been buying back stock
      Sep 1, 3:19 PM
    • bazooooka: George you may like CMTB also...
      Sep 4, 3:51 AM
    • toddro: I like $BOTJ but their management does not seem receptive to any kind of merger. http://bit.ly/1t3oyET
      Sep 4, 7:52 AM
    • George Yannopoulos: Thanks, bazooooka, I'll have a look.

    • MOSMan: $CBNJ acquiring $COBK at what appears to be a discount to TBV.
      Thu, 10:52 AM
    • jaginger: looks like investors wanted $CBNJ to be the target instead of the buyer
      Thu, 10:55 AM
    • MOSMan: Absolutely. Interesting that one of the directors sold a little over a quarter of his stock (55,300 shares) in May.
      Thu, 12:02 PM
    • MOSMan: Previously, he was a buyer.
