  • Will Google Lead the Way Toward Salvation?  [View article]
SeekingAlpha does a lot of things well, but rewriting titles, I must admit is not one of them.

It seems the tone of the piece changes completely with SeekingAlpha's choice of title.

The original article title was "Google's Vision of Life to be Subsidized by Advertisers" and the fact that advertising subsidization of computing is becoming the new reality in a web-centric world.

There will certainly some run-off late next year on both MSFT and AAPL. They are both players in the computer market and both ship operating systems.

Apple so far, will be less so since they do not roam in the netbook market, upcoming tablet plans notwithstanding, however MSFT had said several times that Windows revenue is under pressure do the the cheap netbooks and their need to sell Windows XP for pennies on the dollar to the netbook makers.

Give these makers a free alternative backed by Google versus paying for XP or upcoming Windows 7 and of course it makes a difference in the economics.

No one really knows just how Chrome OS will be and how it'll work specifically yet, but if there's one thing to like about Google (privacy complaints aside) its the shifting of the computing world to open source and open standards.

The bread and butter of this article however, is not so much about what Microsoft or Apple would or should do in the mean time, or even what Chrome will be when it does come it. It is the underlying trend of Google pushing each and every business it gets into towards the realm of "free" by way of Advertising subsidies.

  • New Search Tools Only Showcase Google's Lead [View article]
I don't think there can be a peak with Search results?
How often do you use the search engines and how often do you find exactly what you need? Do you answers sound like the technology has peaked?

I think we are far from perfect, but personalization is the way to get close.
