Haha, the commenters didn't seem to read the goal of the portfolio! Good stuff as usual.

  • AIG - The New Darling [View article]
I just picked some up yesterday on the dip. They seem like more of a "value" than the stock at the moment. Still really like the stock though.

Possibly. One thing to remember is that they had a really good brand before so they probably don't want to change it. Maybe changing the ticker might help but I doubt that will ever happen.

Thanks for the kind words and I am currently working on doing that just now. I agree with you about MCD. As a college student, I appreciate their dirt cheap prices and know that I can get a decent meal for a couple of bucks.

  • 3 Reasons Lululemon Is Sexy And It Knows It [View article]
I'm just curious, which golfer wears lululemon? I watch a ton of golf and play a lot of golf and I have never seen anyone wearing it on the course in the pros or otherwise.

That's true, I don't think that McDonald's new food is actually any healthier although I haven't looked at the nutritional info yet. My concern around Panera's food is the discrepancy between the actual food and how they market themselves.

That's true, the setting at Panera is much better than McDonald's and their food is much better than Starbucks, although down the road I think Starbucks will be more competitive in the food department, although Starbucks' food will most likely be as unhealthy as Panera's is now. I will say that the addition of wifi hotspots is a very smart move for Panera.

I'm saying that it is in a really good place right now, but if things start changing (like what I said in the article) Panera will suffer

That's true, but Panera markets themselves as a healthy option. When people figure out that they are not, then they will lose patrons in my opinion.

  • Is The Housing Recovery About To Come To An End? [View article]
Correct, crowded trades always end up inflated. Whenever institutional and individual cash investors pile into something, the value disappears

I'm talking about the housing market, not payrolls. But yes, in that regard you are correct

  • Exxon - Buy A Phenomenal Company [View article]
Your welcome, and I agree with you for the most part. Lets say that you had a core position of 100 shares, if the stock kept growing you should be able to sell a few shares for passive income while still maintaining the size of your original investment. That is the argument that many people will make for share buy backs, but I would personally rather have a dividend. Dividends show that management cares about the shareholder, while buy backs are more about making managements life easier. At least in my opinion. So yes, you are correct, dividend growth is one area in the XOM is lacking.

That is a problem, and I would like to see them return more to shareholders in the form of dividend increases. But they did do a $5 billion buyback, just in the fourth quarter of 2012

That's a good point, but as TreyT pointed out they have already done a pretty good job of doing that. And they already have made acquisitions to get into the Bakken. See this article
