I loved trading the markets in 2008, when all the market "experts" were predicting that the DOW was going to 3,000 and the S&P would all but go into negative territory.
Neither happened, of course, but breaking below 700 on the S&P was low enough to teach me some very important lessons.
1) Do your own analysis and watch the charts. Media's job is to entertain - emotions always fly when you watch too much TV.
2) Watching the market slide gave me a cautious sense of NEVER overpaying for an investment, even if that investment is a high-flying Apple.
