  • Contributor Community: End Of Summer Update

    Hi everyone,

It's been a busy couple of months for Seeking Alpha's contributor success team and with the summer winding down, I wanted to share my thoughts on a few of the projects we've been working on.

First, you may have noticed a few high profile faces popping up for the first time in our contributor community. Last month, we were thrilled to welcome Mohamed El-Erian and Larry Fink to Seeking Alpha. I appreciate the warm welcome you've given them and I'm happy to note that their articles have sparked quite a bit of discussion on the site.

The fact that we are able to bring on thought leaders as contributors is a testament to the value of the platform that you have all helped to create. In the coming weeks, you can expect to see more articles from prominent financial commentators as I ramp up our efforts to connect Seeking Alpha's wonderful community of authors with the industry's most influential figures.

Next, I wanted to announce that we've officially launched a Seeking Alpha campus outreach program in an effort to connect with the nation's best and brightest business students. For the 2014-2015 school year, we are partnering with NYU Stern's Investment Management & Research club and Harvard's Financial Analyst Club to increase awareness of Seeking Alpha on campus and to generate top quality content for our readers. I'm also thrilled to announce that we are partnering with TAMID Group -- which has chapters at many prestigious schools across the country -- to participate in and facilitate a semester-long portfolio challenge.

We believe building strong and enduring relationships with top business schools and student organizations is a wonderful way to show our support for higher education while helping to build and strengthen our contributor community.

On another note, many of you may have noticed that we have brought on a Fortune 500 company as a contributor. General Electric published their first article on Seeking Alpha this month and we're happy to welcome them to the community. We've always been proud of the fact that Seeking Alpha users have been able to use the site to connect with company management and we think this represents an opportunity to make those connections happen more frequently. We also think that Seeking Alpha is a fantastic way for companies to articulate their strategy and industry outlook directly to shareholders. As our CEO David Jackson recently noted, "...getting info directly from companies is valuable for investors."

More generally, I hope you have all found our new incentives - $35 base payments for exclusive articles and $5,000 in weekly outstanding performance awards - to be both helpful and motivational. Please note that we are constantly thinking of ways to increase contributor satisfaction and engagement and we hope to announce additional initiatives going forward.

Lastly, congrats to contributor Don Dion for reaching 2,000,000 pageviews!

As always, everyone should feel free to reach out to me directly with any questions, comments, or concerns. If you're in the New York area, I'm always happy to meet for lunch or coffee.

Best wishes everyone and thanks for making Seeking Alpha the go-to source for serious investment research and discussion.

  • An Adaptive Approach To Investing: WSJ Features Ben Hunt

Several months back I reached out to Ben Hunt at Salient Partners about contributing to Seeking Alpha. Someone had forwarded me one of the pieces he wrote for Epsilon Theory and I remember thinking "Wow, this is what I wish I could have written when I was a contributor." As it turns out, Ben was very receptive to having his articles reposted on Seeking Alpha and readers seem to agree that the content is truly incredible.

In his articles, Ben moves adeptly from general observations about the state of the market environment to specific inferences about risk management and portfolio strategy, demonstrating a remarkable mastery of deductive reasoning in the process. Perhaps the most incredible part of Ben's work however, is his unique ability to incorporate cultural references into his work in a way that both expands the analysis and makes it accessible to a broader audience.

The Wall Street Journal featured Ben today in a column called "Voices" which you can read here. Below are links to a few of Ben's latest pieces.

"The Dude Abides: China In The Golden Age Of Central Bankers"

    "Long-Term Parking"
