Dan S. Ahrens is portfolio and compliance officer of AdvisorShares Investments, LLC (http://www.advisorshares.com/), specializing in actively managed exchange traded funds. He has extensive experience in the investment management industry, covering portfolio management, sales and administration. His background includes responsibility for operations, finance and compliance. Prior to joining AdvisorShares, Dan founded Ahrens Advisors, L.P., in 2005, an SEC-registered Investment Advisor, where he was portfolio manager of the Ladenburg Thalmann Gaming and Casino Fund, from 2006 to 2008. Prior to forming Ahrens Advisors, he was president of the MUTUALS.com Funds, and served as portfolio manager of the Generation Wave Growth Fund (GWGFX) and the Vice Fund (VICEX), which he started in 2002. He was president and chief compliance officer of the Funds' Advisor, Mutuals Advisors, Inc., and acted as president, treasurer and financial & operations officer for the Broker Dealer firm Mutuals.com, Inc. Dan is an accomplished author and speaker, and has appeared on numerous financial programs, including CNBC, ABC News and Bloomberg. He has been featured, along with funds under his management, in major national and trade publications including The Economist, New York Times and The Wall Street Journal, among others. He has a BBA in finance, from Texas Tech University. Dan is married, and lives with his family in Dallas, TX.
