Akamai Acknowledges It's Not Delivering HD Video to the iPhone [View article]
@ Kanman: This is all about furthering the HD debate, I am the one who is saying we need to stick to the broadcast standard. I am the one starting the debate. You didn't even say what you think the standard should be.

@ Wobatus: You are right, I do have an agenda, which is to write about things I think are relevant to the industry and explain the difference between facts and opinions.
I don't know why it is so hard for some investors to believe that someone like me does not actually play the stock market and has never bought shares before.
Akamai's Webcast Recap: Stream Buffers, No Real Answers, No New Story [View article]
The facts speak for themselves. Akamai's CDN revenue has been down for two quarters now. Akamai's traffic growth has been slowing for longer than that. I don't need to back up anything, just listen to Akamai's earnings calls.
I don't need to predict if Akamai is going to miss earnings or not, I don't own any stock in them, or any other public company. I have no vested interest in their stock price.
Recent Analyst Research on the CDN Market Needs to Be Questioned [View article]
@Wisdom: You say " I have read about CDNetworks problems from other sources, I would have appreciated a more precise defense."
A more precise defense? You kidding? The point I was making was that CDNetworks has not made any major mistakes with their CDN offering. Internap on the other hand has had many public facing issues, not to mention writing down $150M of the VitalStream acquisition. It's all public info. I don't need to "defend" CDNetworks, the facts are the facts. Point me to something that shows CDNetworks has made mistakes as large as Internap.
You also say, "It is difficult to analyze CDNs when you do not want to upset advertisers of 'streaming media magazine."
Again, make no sense. Internap is one of the largest advertisers with Streaming Media magazine, so if I was worried about "upsetting" them, I would not have written this post saying that CDNetworks should be listed above Internap.

Limelight to Challenge Akamai with E-Commerce, Whole Site Delivery Product [View article]
The article is not comparing either of the CDNs services from a technology level, so it's not the place to mention any "improvements" that Akamai has made to "keep them in the lead in the CDN space", or on the flip side, any features or functionality Limelight has created to give them an edge. That's not the point of the article.
I find it odd you complain I didn't mention any of these things you wanted to see mentioned, yet in your follow up comment you didn't mention any of them yourself.
Limelight to Akamai: 'My Network Is Bigger Than Your Network' [View article]
There has been no updated ruling as of yet. It was expected one would have come at the end of December, but that did not happen. It's a waiting game at this point.
Akamai's 3.8M Simultaneous Obama Streams and Inevitable Capping of Customers [View article]
Akamai's press release was accurate. They were very careful with their wording and never used the word "video streams" or said that 7.7 million was for the Obama webcast. It was very creative language. Agreed, it should have been clearer, but other folks did that as well.
I think the point of Akamai's release was to show al of the traffic on their network that day, not just what they did for Obama.
Limelight and Akamai Have No Threat by Amazon's New CloudFront Service [View article]
Amazon says that when it comes to CloudFront specifically, they do not have better pricing for larger customers. When I asked about lower pricing for higher volume customers they went on record to say, "we are not making custom deals for CloudFront".
2009 Should Be a Good Year for Level 3's Content Delivery Business [View article]
On the title comment, SeekingAlpha.com takes these posts from my blog where they originally appear at BusinessOfVideo.com and sometimes changes the title of the post at their own discretion.
I asked that this title be changed from the original title which was too generic. I was not implying that Level 3 as a company would have a good year, as I only track Level 3's CDN business, which is what this specific post is about.
Akamai: Why Charge More for Streaming Video Delivery vs. HTTP Delivery? [View article]
"Wow, should akamai follow the lead of all its competitors?"
No, Akamai should follow the lead of how customers want to buy services. All that matters is that customers like the pricing model and signs contracts. If they don't, then you have to realize it and change your strategy. And you can't wait a year to do it.
The pricing model Akamai has now for many video CDN deals does not work in the market. How long do they continue to price things differently than everyone else when the market tells them they aren't buying it?
"I assume that if their pricing strategy results in declining market share they will match."
That's a big assumption. They had a rough last quarter and from many, many of the new deals I see in the market, they aren't winning them and are not changing their pricing model.
