not sure if RAD is consumer discretionary - 65% of their revs come from the back end - ie. drugs. They're getting crushed b/c of their debt load and competition from much better managed companies (WAG, CVS)

HWAY has tripled since hitting $5 level lows before Obama got elected - and yet, 09 visibility is very cloudy. Mgmt hasn't said much - either the street thinks it gets bought out or the next qtr will be a big surprise in terms of enrollment - I would doubt that, since managed care companies are all seeing enrollment declines on the commercial side. This stock is a blow up if people are only playing it as a political pure play stock on wellness and prevention, which Obama's camp likes...one to hedge if you long it
you forgot to mention that PFE recently dumped its consumer business (listerine, etc) and now they are taking on more of that type of business (Wyeth's lip balm, advil, etc) if this deal goes through. Looks like confused and desperate management to me.
On another note, this should put the entire space in play: Im looking @ GILD, BMY, SGP. FRX is as you mention, an attractive candidate as well. How MRK has not yet bought Gilead really surprises me

That is correct, it will take 12-18 months for the companies to see this $. Note also that the House/Senate versions of bill look different, as one is for $23B and the other for $20B, I think...There was something in the WSJ Saturday that noted this discrepancy

I am seeing a short interest of 41% on several sites - can this be right? this is a strange company, and roll ups make me wary, in general. Dems are more likely to cut Medicaid rates before Medicare ones, so this is, as you say, a positive for AMED. Another catalyst - if MedPAC gets that 5.5% cut in home health medicare rates, AMED will benefit, ironically, since most of its competition (I think 80% of home health companies are mom/pops) will get crushed. AMED probably has the ability to roll up a lot more companies....the huge short presence must be people who either think MedPAC will get a stronger cut in 2010 and harm AMED - or there is something seriously wrong with this company, as Citron Research noted last summer....
