Mr. Ravicher received his law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law, where he was the Franklin O'Blechman Scholar of his class, a Mortimer Caplin Public Service Award recipient and an Editor of the Virginia Journal of Law and Technology, and his bachelors degree in materials science magna cum laude with University Honors from the University of South Florida. Mr. Ravicher's litigation experience includes representing the plaintiffs in the Association for Molecular Pathology v Myriad Genetics case challenging patents on human genes, representing the plaintiffs in the Organic Seed v Monsanto case challenging patents on genetically modified seed, representing the developers of free and open source software in copyright infringement cases against parties that did not comply with applicable open source licenses, pursuing Glaxosmithkline and other pharmaceutical and consumer products companies for violations of the false patent marking statute, and authoring several amici briefs to the Supreme Court, the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and various other courts on issues of patent and technology law. Mr. Ravicher has testified before Congress on legal policy issues and, in November 2012, was named Appellate Lawyer of the Week by the National Law Journal.
Mr. Ravicher's transactional experience includes providing both investor side and company side representation in angel funding, venture capital financing and initial public offerings, negotiating sales and licenses of patents, copyrights, and other intellectual property assets, and advising on patent infringement, validity and valuation issues. He has appeared on the PBS NewsHour, been quoted in the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, the Financial Times and countless other publications, presented at dozens of conferences and public events on issues relating to patent and technology law, and writes about technology and other legal public policy issues for the Huffington Post.
