  • QFII RQFII License And Quota Approval Update-May 2014

    4 foreign institutions obtained their QFII licenses in Mar. 2014, while a net addition of USD 840 million in quota was approved to 7 institutions in April. As of the end of April, QFII license holders are numerated as 261 with an aggregate investment quota at USD 54.418 billion.

    6 institutions obtained their RQFII licenses in Mar. 2014, and a net addition of RMB 15.1 billion in quota was approved to 12 institutions in April. As of the end of April, RQFII license holders are numerated as 68 with an aggregate investment quota at RMB 215.6 billion.

  • Shanghai And Hong Kong Mutual Stock Markets Access Will Commence In 6 Months!

    On April 10th,A pilot program to connect the Shanghai and Hong Kong stock markets has been approved by China's top securities regulator.

    Mutual stock market access between the mainland and Hong Kong will allow mainland and Hong Kong investors to trade easily on the other's market, according to a joint statement by the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) and the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission.

    Both markets rallied upon the announcement. HengSeng Index advanced 1.5% while Shanghai Composite rallied 1.38%. Investors are hoping that this program will unify valuation levels for the HK-SH dual listed stocks, mainly blue chip names.

  • France Welcomes 80 Billion RQFII Quota

    According to a joint announcement by China and France, France has been granted a RQFII quota of RMB 80 Billion.

    France is now, after the UK, the second European country to get RQFII quota.

    China and France agree to continue to hold talks on the establishment of yuan clearing and settlement arrangements in Paris.

    Paris is likely to join Hong Kong, London(80 Billion RMB) and Singapore(50 Billion RMB) as the next Offshore RMB centers .

    According to SAFE compiled data, by 2014/2/28, the RQFII scheme has a total of 59 institutions with 180.4 Billion RMB (~30 Billion USD)in quota.
