I enjoy spending time day trading and analyzing the market. I’m always looking for a good swing or day trade, but mostly I’m focused on finding stocks that will hit big and up-list from the OTC to the big boards. Basically, almost all of my portfolio is traded daily, especially considering I tend to look over multiple market segments for trades instead of spending all my time on one section. I’ve been analyzing and trading stocks for over 9 years now, and I have a strong understanding of trends, as well as the knowledge to make smart trades.
I have over 20 years experience as an analyst and investor in the financial services industry and have covered banks, insurance companies, mortgage REITs, equity REITs, and specialty finance companies. I also have experience with alternative asset classes such as oil, gas, timber, and farmland, as well as the REITs that invest in these asset classes.
As a CFA charterholder, I believe it is important for investors to take responsibility for their investment decisions. If you are unwilling or unable do your own analysis, you are better off adopting a passive investment approach, establishing a target asset allocation, and purchasing index funds or ETFs.
Currently, I'm an engineer working in the semiconductor industry, but I have had a varied career. I am nearing retirement. I came to the realization a few years back that I could not approach retirement and remain an amateur investor, that I needed to step up my game. Still in the process of doing that. Looking for and value. I can't imagine any non-investment pro finding their way around in the stock market, without a community like this one.
Update: Retired, as of 12/2015
I am a former fixed income specialist. I consider myself to be a convert from MPT to DGI. I plan to retire in the next three years and the closer I get to retirement, the more I embrace DGI. I embrace the theory of owning investments whose income grows over time so that I don’t have to cut down the “money tree" as I get older.
