Surely for lawyers that represents an increase in economic activity?

  • Worst Housing Number in Decades: What Is the Wall Street Media Smoking?  [View article]
I don't actually see good news here, but I am prepared to have an open mind. If the increase from April is genuinely seasonally adjusted then that is cause for hope. Having said that building in this environment has to be viewed as an act of desperation.

Well the key is in the claim to the figures being "seasonally adjusted". It that claim holds water then they are right. If not then obviously you are.

    Which is it?

  • These European Nations Are in Worse Shape than the U.S.  [View article]
"The only thing that modifies some of this risk is the fact that neither country has run massive current account deficits for decades, like the United States. "

You could have just stated this and forgot about the rest.

It is the burden of cumulative debt that is the problem. There is no problem running up your credit card from month to month if you clear the balance, but if that balance increases exponentially year on year to the point where you can barely cover the interest payments, then you have a serious problem. That is precisely the juncture the US is at, and it about time you stopped worrying about the problems of others and got your own house in order.
