Rookie. I must correct you on a few points where you seem to be confused.
1. I did not say Apple would be looking for an acquisition that would be accretive to the stock. few acquisitions would be accretive to the stock or even move the needle on the stock's valuation due simply to the size of Apple. I was referring to Apple spending some money on acquiring content for the upcoming Apple TV initiative. They wouldn't be worried about the acquisition being accretive but whether they are getting a good deal on the content.
2. I wasn't thinking Apple was going to spend money on R&D inventing a non rectangular iPad but on innovating and entering the streaming music and TV spaces.
3. Your premise that Apple can not spend any money on an acquisition is a fallacy due to the fact they have approximately 1/3 of the 100 billion cash onshore or about 33 billion which would not be subject to any such taxes. Furthermore, I was speaking to an acquisitions in the 1 billion to less range, which is a tiny fraction of even that.
