Self directed investor. I run my own investments via an online brokerage account and have been building retirement savings for many years at a brokerage house. Focused on investing carefully with an eye to total return (including return of principal) and proper asset allocation based on input from the writings of the many knowledgable writers on SA. Pimarily investing in non-taxable retirement accounts and always looking for both value (low PE/G ratio) and how to avoid or offset undue risks. That said, I am open to GARP, Dividend Growth, International, and contrarian investment approaches. Working towards a more concentrated portfolio over time to enhance returns. Some day I may write on SA.
An Investor who appreciates the classics notably Buffett and Graham but especially the writings of the other great investor Jeremy Grantham. There are a few points to my philosophy in the market none too hard to understand.
1. Mean reversion and consequently value
2. The purchase of sound quality common stocks
I particularly enjoy analyzing companies and select the best 10 or so based on various metrics but I am keen on return on equity and combined with overall market valuation to forma a sort of dynamic asset allocation. I follow and admire a number of proven masters of investing- men who trough their meticulous study of their craft build track records exceeding 10 years of market outperformance. The likes of Jeremy Grantham, Rob Arnott, Cliff Asness at AQR management, John Hussman, Charles Munger and Robert Rodriguez at FPA capital. Besides common stocks I take great interest in options and fixed income as well as a 15-20% allocation to gold. Based on expected returns on asset classed I slowly shift allocations. This is in short my philosophy in practice and theory.
I am projecting that the US govt is near insolvent and that we will be facing a new Bretton Woods currency agreement bringing gold back into the monetary system in combination with a sudden fiat currency devaluation (across the board-most currencies) against gold over a long weekend or an outright sovereign debt panic by 2020-2025. The least expected outcome double digit inflation is very likely sometime in the future. The Fed PRO-POVERTY policies are going to crush the poor, fixed pensioners and lower middle class since disposable income growth is limited. Beware middle class and retirees your purchasing power will drop dramatically when everyday necessities absorb a larger % of your income. To spread the word to the brainwashed American drones that this economy is one big illusion ponzi scheme and you are infact broke. Issuing more debt to solve a debt problem is crazy. I am accepting nominations for those that played a major positive and major negative impact on our economy. I am a full time employee in a technology company, with a growing (in spite of mistakes) personal and retirement portfolio. I'm looking for ideas on how I can maximize my portfolio return without turning it into a full time job.
