  • Update: Klondex Mines' Q2 Earnings [View article]
Thanks for the update on Klondex Mines $KLNDF $KDX.CA, Ben. I am proud to have written the inaugural post on Klondex ages ago - even though it's been a much more challenging and circuitous route to get to where we are than I had ever envisioned. That they are in production, have two high-grade properties and a world class mill - is beyond my dreams back when I first wrote. I credit Bill Matlack - an enduring shareholder and Board member for helping getting us to this point. He's an unsung hero for Klondex and a major holder in the Company.

The Company (my former IR client) is clearly focusing on its exploration efforts in order to update its resource estimates later this year or early next year. That was the purpose of their recent raise. I am banking on their ability to add ounces because particularly at Fire Creek they know where to drill to confirm ounces that were in their prior 43-101 which used a much more lenient methodology. There are no guarantees - but really it was a paucity of data that caused them to remove over a 1m ounces from the resource - and I am betting (and really that's the most accurate word because I have no inside knowledge or understanding any longer) that they will focus on holes that would confirm some of the lost ounces.

  • Ebix Fueling Growth By Going Back To Its Bread And Butter [View article]
And that was not really fair, because the Last Financier makes some great points and highlights key aspects of the $EBIX story... for which I agree and am grateful!

    I guess I'm shocked by the support! ; )

My only concern is that with this $EBIX love-fest breaking out across SeekingAlpha (and I share their views!) - all I can think about is the next bout of propaganda from the Gotham's and Coprafield. Guess 3.0 years later and their short thesis tattered and flapping in the breeze, should help temper whatever they concoct. At least it's always interesting!

  • Don't Confuse Plug Power With Tesla [View article]
An alternative is Lithium-Ion batteries such as those being brought to market by Flux Power Holdings $FLUX. Flux recently got is first lift truck product line approved by the leading OEM - which will make their sales, marketing and distribution channel building efforts much easier. Flux's LiFT packs cost $3-4k yet last many times as long as lead-acid and deliver improved performance; they also fit into the existing infrastructure and work flow - making it another compelling option that's better than lead-acid. Not familiar with SCiB batteries or their cost - but clearly those performance stats are impressive. Flux is still a very early stage company, but the point is really that options are coming and they make financial and operations sense - so they are worth tracking.

  • Highpower Tech: A Big EV Battery Order Takes Company To The Next Level [View article]
In the realm of lithium ion storage, little Flux Power Holdings $FLUX is worth a look as well, as they focus on some niche industrial markets such as forklifts, tug & two vehicles, robotics and portable power for military & entertainment applications. They are just coming to market with their solutions - gaining awareness and initial distribution and OEM dialogues - including a recent "approval" by the leading forklift OEM.

The business is really a restart - taking proven technology & design and applying it to new markets - after seeing their automotive book of clients go by the wayside. The scale of their new target markets is significant, providing plenty of opportunity for growth. The are a client of our investor relations firm - much earlier stage than our typical client - but we liked to story so we got involved and are happy with that decision.

  • Fuel Cell Energy By The Numbers [View article]
Encourage investors looking at fuel cells ($FCEL and $PLUG) and specifically the forklift market, to consider the market potential for Flux Power Holdings $FLUX which is bringing lithium ion storage to the forklift market and recently received approval for its first product by the largest forklift OEM.

The market is now looking at two alternatives to lead-acid batteries and their array of performance and cost issues. Flux's LiFT Packs are an attractive alternative - at a price point that falls in between the cost of Fuel cells and lead acid batteries - and is seamless as far as integrating into existing workflows for charging, etc. Flux is very early stage - which involves related risks - but they have been gaining traction in the forklift and other markets, like robotics and portable power - making them a company worth watching. We represent Flux in their IR efforts - so I am not without bias in suggesting you take a look. and frankly it should be part of your due diligence if you are going to be investing in fuel cell providers in this market - understanding the alternatives is critical.

  • 8 Fictions Of Plug Power [View article]
Call it what you like - I prefer "informing" and providing perspective for investors looking at this space - particularly the forklift market which now has two new alternatives to choose from. If you do look at the performance and ROI of lithium ion vs. fuel cells, you have to admit that there is a place for both - particularly the smaller the facility/company.

  • 8 Fictions Of Plug Power [View article]
Just want to point out that our client Flux Power Holdings (OTCQB: $FLUX) has launched a compelling line of Lithium-ion batteries for fork lifts at price points and performance that are VERY compelling vs. alternatives. They fall in between the far more costly $PLUG fuel cells and the cheapest solution: legacy lead-acid batteries that both are seeking to replace. It's a big market with room for a few solutions - but at $3-$4k each and the actual cost of electricity used fairly modest in comparison - Flux's LiFT Packs are a solution worth keeping an eye on. A recent approval by the leading fork lift OEM is an important step forward in Flux's market entry

  • Media Alert: Check Point RSA Conference Session Highlights Security Issues With Software Defined Networks [View article]
Our client Wave Systems $WAVX addresses the software vulnerabilities that $CHKP raises. They do this by enabling device authentication that is rooted in an industry standard security chip that is shipping and has shipped on nearly a billion devices - PCs and tablets. It enables the network or cloud to authenticate both the user and the users device BOTH before granting access. So simple but so much more powerful because the device credentials are hidden inside the chip. Sort of like the difference between protecting your keys in your desk drawer or in a very secure safe. Wav's also at RSA - booth 1521. I think you'll be hearing more about this approach - just yesterday Wave reported its software is shipping with Samsung's new line of these security chips - called Trusted Platform Modules or TPM. They are like a Trojan horse (a good one!) in most enterprise networks - they just need to be turned on.

As always Roland, your research turns up very interesting supporting data on your investment ideas. We're really excited about Flux Power (OTCQB: $FLUX), which while a tiny client in revenue & market cap today, provides a public venture capital-like opportunity to invest in the growth of "The global lithium-ion battery market [which was] was worth $11.7 billion in 2012 and is expected to double by 2016, according to Frost & Sullivan."

    Here's their Feb 2013 commentary:

Thanks for the exposure; I look forward to your updates.

  • Looking At Gold Miners? Consider 2013's Winners For 2014 [View article]
Appreciate the commentary and the inclusion of Nevada gold explorer, Klondex Mines Ltd. TSX: KDX or OTCQX: KLNDF. Did want to clarify that Klondex's updated 43-101 Resource in Sept. 2013 used a more stringent modeling method and a 7 gpt cutoff to yield the following gold resource:

    Measured 57,200 oz @ 237.7 g/t Au
    Indicated 238,700 oz @ 37.4 g/t Au
    Inferred 421,400 oz @ 19.2 g/t Au

The company will continue to execute underground infill & exploration drilling in an effort to add further ounces to its resource. More info at

  • Astrotech jumps on bullish SA Pro article [View news story]
Our long time friend and amazing value stock picker, Jan Loeb, has done it again. He's very bullish on ASTC - and is still bullish following its recent double. He has a sum of the parts valuation that includes just two of three parts - ASO & 1st Detect - which gets us to something north of $3.00 a share vs. today's closing price of $1.26.

The story has been well camouflaged within ASTC so far, but the recent quarterly report coupled with the forthcoming SeekingAlpha article (in the hands of some today and coming to the unwashed masses like me, tomorrow) seems to be getting some focus on the inherent values. That's all I know for now.

  • Increasingly Important Lithium Production May Bring Future Profits To These Companies [View article]
Tiny Flux Power Holdings $FLUX.OB is one of many companies seeing the potential for lithium as a storage medium. They are targeting a range of applications but the first is in industrial lifts. The performance / cost of ownership benefits are clear - wherever they get their lithium and for whatever applications they provide it. For that reason it's a company to watch. They are small and there is a lot of risk, but you can see if they are executing and at some point it should be clear if the stock is one that should be bought.
