  • 2 Energy Stocks And A Gold Miner With Recent Intensive Insider Buying [View article]
Thanks for the mention on our client, Klondex Mines TSX: KDX ( $KDX.CA) & OTCQX: KLNDF and its Fire Creek Nevada gold & silver project.

Beyond insider buying, Klondex is slated to report an updated resource and initiate bulk sampling production of gold/silver in the next few months.

Klondex is one of a small group of gold miners that are positioned to produce gold profitably at much lower gold prices - even below $1000 - but of course we are rooting for prices going the other way over the long term!

The trick is in having grades that are economic at lower gold prices. A few grams per ton doesn't cut it at lower prices - so you need higher grades to make money.

If you look at Klondex's May 2011 resource estimate, you'll see that at a 7 gram cutoff - which is around 1/5 of an ounce, they have over 1.2M indicated ounces of gold vs. 1.6M indicated ounces of gold at a 4 gram cutoff (same sort of thing for indicated ounces). That gives you a window on the strength of the resource. [Note: "Indicated" is a Canadian classification that requires more data/confirmation to reach the classification; inferred is a less stringent standard and therefore less reliable. Klondex has 0.46M ounces of gold on an inferred basis and a 4 gram cuttoff]

Klondex will have three mine plans that reflect three different gold prices. Of course, the lower the gold price, the lower the # of economic ounces - but the gold that is not mined will remain for production if and when gold prices rebound.

CEO Paul Huet has great experience so he understands the need to have differing mine plans and to respond quickly to major pricing changes so that a mine remains as profitable as possible, while also ensuring the lower grades are not "sterilized" by mining activity.

Also, don't forget the silver as Klondex has about 1-1 gold to silver ratio in its resource -which will help offset production costs.

    Thought this would be helpful.

  • Gold Miners Have Reached Their Downside Targets: Upside Ahead? [View article]
Appreciate the mention of our client Klondex Mines $KDX.CA and OTCQX: KLNDF and its Fire Creek gold project in Nevada.

    A few additional points/clarifications:
    *the fund raising grossed C$23M with the exercise of the Agent's option;
    * KDX's resource average grade is 9.9 gpt for indicated and 8.2 gpt for the inferred resource, with a 4 gram cutoff as stated
    * KDX is working on an updated resource which will include 2011, 2012 & year-to-date 2013 drilling, and a more stringent modeling methodology by Micon International.
    * CEO Paul Huet ran Newmont's Midas Mine and started up Great Basin's Hollister Mine, both high-grade underground gold mines similar in geology to Fire Creek and on the Northern Nevada Rift gold trend.
    * Larry Phillips, co-founder and former EVP & General Counsel at IAMGOLD $IAG, joins Klondex as Chairman effective April 1st.

  • The Truth About Robin Raina's Ebix: Part I [View article]
Seeking Alpha Declined to publish my two articles on the Gotham City EBIX Smear - so rather than try to please their moving standards, I have published them myself:

I have submitted an article on $EBIX to SeekingAlpha, as I did post Copperfield. It took SA about two days to vet my article last time, while the share price was under attack. I trust they move more quickly this time.

I would just say that 1) it's very easy to sling mud when you don't identify yourself - the Gotham City Research website seems constructed solely to host this "report" and has not provided any "research" on any other companies, 2) this article is quite reminiscent of previous smear campaigns that were very successful in causing EBIX shares to fall even though the business has continued to generate substantial cash, and 3) Further, last month the SEC issued a "We have completed our review of your filings" letter for EBIX's 2010 and 2011 10-Ks - link to letter: http://1.usa.gov/VOEVdi

I'll continue my rebuttal in a separate SA article.

  • Christopher Welch: Searching For A Perfect 10 In Miners [View article]
Klondex Mines Ltd. (TSX: KDX and OTCQX: $KLNDF.PK has focused on Nevada gold with its Fire Creek property in N. Central Nevada. Klondex today (while our markets were closed, because of a Vancouver Gold Conference today) reported the discovery of a new zone with visible gold and an assay of 123.9 gpt (3.6 oz/ton) over 1.5 Meters (5 feet). Klondex is permitted, funded and moving toward an updated resource report and the start of initial production through its existing underground decline, by year end, making it worth a closer look. http://bit.ly/5m5LSz

  • Understanding Ebix's Growth Strategy [View article]
Love the fresh look at the EBIX story and the value creation from the acquisition program. Much appreciated. It's interesting how Wall Street rewards companies that bulk up on highly compensated sales forces - who expand the business - yet looks askance at companies that leapfrog that approach via M&A. Seems if the revenues actually stay with you - it's really about the cost - and EBIX seems to be doing well on that front. We can't have too much inquiry and dialogue on these issues to help this story gain visibility and credibility.

  • An academic report concludes that as automobiles become increasingly computerized, they also become more vulnerable to viruses. Just like any machine that transmits bits of information wirelessly, hackers in theory could intercept and redirect packets of information from on-board computer systems. Look for cybersecurity firms such as CHKP, SYNC, FIRE, Intel's McAfee unit, and private firm Escrypt to create more products to address the growing issue. (full report .pdf) [View news story]
Of course this is also a potential market for Trusted Computing and the solutions offered by Wave Systems Corp. WAVX it would seem.

  • 13 Companies Dumped By Insiders This Week [View article]
The larger issue on EBIX is the size of his sales relative to his total holdings. I think his sale was roughly 10% of his holdings - always look at what they don't sell as much as what they do sell.

Like in soccer - watch where the body is going - not the feet.

I think insider transactions only have predictive value when the transactions are well outside of the norm at the company - and/or they represent a a far larger % of management holdings (options + stock). Otherwise they can just be propaganda or a response to a call for insider buying - not a fundamental signal. It's also helpful to understand the individuals financial position - and what % their action represents of their total net worth.

Like anything - the more you know, the more valuable information can be.

2 cents from an IR guy - not a professional investor.
