  • Align Technology Is Lined Up For Years Of Growth [View article]
    SilverD -

You are right since the company's October earnings the stock has not moved much. However it had a large run up to that point and is up 67% over the last 12 months. I think it got a little ahead of itself with the October pop but it has held the technical levels since then. One at $52 and another large one just below $50 where it had the breakout in October.

  • Lululemon Is Ditching The Downward Dog For A New Bull Position [View article]
    Snowden -

This is one of the views that could get shorts in trouble. Yes, the company got its start in yoga clothing and still has a huge dedication to yoga, but their clothing is not exclusive to one activity or exercise. The clothing is high-tech and high quality, their customers enjoy wearing it while running, lifting weights, biking and management is constantly talking about new "product capsules" for consumers. Did you watch any beach volleyball matches during the summer Olympics? Our men's team was wearing lulu during ever match, obviously they were not doing yoga.

I urge you to go look at their website and look at their product lines. The cover page right now features winter running clothing. Running is obviously not a fad and people are not moving away from it. Investors should think of lulu as a luxury athletic apparel company, not a yoga company.

  • Pandora Investors Are In For A Rough Ride [View article]
<<History tells us there will likely be a carry-over effect to February and investors should brace themselves for low February listening statistics as well.>>

This comment was meant to refer to the introduction of iTunes radio in the middle of September and the effect on October listening statistics. I agree with you that the statistics historically have recovered in February, but I do not think that will be the case this year. Beats Radio was launched on January 21st and I think the majority of the effect will be reflected in February, especially after the company spent lavishly on a Superbowl ad to introduce its product.

I agree that with the growth rate slowing significantly Pandora will need to start making profits and that 2014 will be that year. The RPMs have been increasing dramatically and the investments that they are making in sales and marketing are really starting to show in those numbers. It will be interesting to see what happens in their licensing cost negotiations going forward because any decrease in those could really catapult the company into profitability.

I think that the February statistics will be poor when they come out because of Beats Radio and Spotify's introduction of a radio service. You can't expect things to grow at the same rate forever even though the base gets larger. The company is already reaching about 25% of the US population on a monthly basis and that is a huge marketing opportunity that advertisers will pay for.

Thanks for the Comment Raven. I agree this is a wonderful stock for a straddle play, I think that investors can make money on the long and short side. The stock has almost filled the whole gap since earnings were released and could set up for a nice play into February's statistics.

  • Rid Your Portfolio Of This (LULU) Lemon [View article]
I like to take a look at this website every now and then to gauge customer sentiment:

Early last year when there were quality issues these customers were complaining a lot. Every other comment was about some sort of quality issue and not just about the pants that got all the media attention. I'm not seeing anything like that this time, which tells me the media is blowing the issue out of proportion.

  • Short The Lemon [View article]
I think Akram's Razor is a little jealous of Bill Maurer because Bill is #2 in Short Ideas, #4 on Consumer Goods, #5 in Technology and has twice the number of followers ...

Must be hard to be 33 and have someone "a year or two out of school" showing you up like that. Don't worry man, we all understand.

  • 5 Reasons To Avoid Lululemon [View article]
5 Reason why this article is terrible:
    1. Imitation: You mention yourself that lulu is at the high-end of the market & that Nordstrom is at a price point 30% below lulu. That's not imitation - that's a completely different target market. Lulu is a premium brand, Nordstrom & the Gap are not.

    2. The cooling off effect: People that still believe that lululemon only makes yoga clothes are ignorant, never been to a store or never read a conference call. Women buy their clothes for all types of athletic and daily activities.

    3. Saturation: At the end of the last quarter lulu only had 180 stores world wide. Many major US markets still don't have lulu locations.

    4. A weak economy: The stock has been steadily rising for the entire financial crisis. If you are going to base an investment thesis off a weak economy you should check past performance of Lulu's earnings growth during the recession. Oh perfect your article mentions that they have been growing 53% YOY.

    5. Heavy Insider Selling: Lulu reached a 52-week high of $81 within the past six months. Any smart investor (or insider) could see that the stock had run up too high and would have taken advantage of the high price.

Ripe for a correction? What do you call the drop from $81 - $52? The stock already corrected and is on its way back up.

  • Chipotle Deserves A $400 Stock Price And Here's Why [View article]
Q2 2012 Chipotle reported same store sales increases of 8%. This was composed of 4.6% menu price increases and 3.4% traffic/ticket increases.

In Q3 2012 Chipotle will only have a 1.3% benefit from menu price increases. So if you hold traffic/ticket increases at the same level of last quarter that gives you total comps of 4.7%... if Chipotle reports comps of 4.7% the stock price will decrease significantly.

  • Chipotle Mexican Grill - Growth Has Come To A Standstill [View article]
Reports of Cantina Bell negatively impacting CMG are way overblown. Taco Bell recently gave out BOGO coupons for the bowl and burritos. My friends and I jumped on this opportunity (free food is wonderful). We all agreed that our bowl/burrito were delicous but its still Taco Bell quality. I love Taco Bell, I love Chipotle. I go to Taco bell for a 79 cent taco or a $1.89 cheesy gordita crunch, not a $4.79 Cantina Bowl. I'd happily pay the extra $1.30 and get a quality Chicken Burrito at Chipotle for $6.10 where i can choose different beans, salsas and toppings.

I agree Christine Day really needs to do something about these QC issues before its too late. Lulu's core customers are upset and the company's comps will certainly suffer along with the brand's image.
