    • Jon Springer: Yes. But some of the best performing markets past and future don't have ETFs. For example Sri Lanka where I just was for 2 weeks
      11/8/12
    • Jon Springer: but can't publish articles on SA tho foreigners can easily invest in their exchange. Blog - http://seekingalpha.com/p/p1ih More to come.

    • Jon Springer: and another Forbes Asia article coming about a Sri Lanka like this one about a Mongolian http://onforb.es/UFr1b4

    • David Jackson: Jon, is there any way to invest in Sri Lanka on U.S. exchanges?
      11/9/12
    • Jon Springer: Not really. There are investment vehicles that act like index ETFs to invest in the Colombo Stock Exchange, one backed by Michael Preiss.
      11/9/12
    • Jon Springer: Local 1-year CDs and bonds can pay out up to 13.5% interest rates. Bonds can be invested in through same ETF-like vehicles.
      11/9/12
    • Jon Springer: US$ denominated bonds from the country (which avoid currency risk) pay 6 to 8%
      11/9/12
    • David Jackson: Interesting - thank you! What was the country like when you were there?
      11/9/12
    • Jon Springer: Only co. listed in U.S. is (VRTU) which as tech play doesn't capture GDP growth.
      11/9/12
    • Jon Springer: Banking, accounting, and corp governance standards trending positive. Can tell people how to open brokerages and buy R/E too, etc.
      11/9/12
    • Jon Springer: Stopping there. Looking for a pathway to earn clicks on these research reports. Will continue with other countries. Thanks for the inquiry.

    • David Jackson: Thanks for the discussion!

    • SA Editor Jonathan Liss: Interestingly, iShares Israel (EIS) has lowest P/E ratio of any country fund. Performance hasn't matched http://seekingalpha.com/a/jvy7
      11/9/12
    • Jon Springer: RE: what was country like when there? didn't see that until just now - did you want more answers? will be writing a lot very soon...
      11/9/12
    • Jon Springer: regarding low P/E ratios... been told there's a lot of Vietnam stocks around a P/E of 5 by a hedge fund that goes to broken markets
      11/9/12
    • Jon Springer: Tho VNM may not capture that because of liquidity distortion that causes ETF to mainly hold financial as Futures Asia & Peter Pham discussed
      11/9/12
    • Jon Springer: was told Philippines which has been doing well on your ETF performance list still has room to run by same hedge fund manager
      11/9/12
    • Jon Springer: Talked to lots of fund managers at Mongolia Investment Summit. For me, Bangladesh moved up most on my plane ticket pecking order while there

    • David Jackson: Jon, maybe you should start ETFs for Mongolia, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. :-)
      12/10/12
    • x oil -field: @Jon Have 2 questions if I may,was this your 1st Sri Lanka visit, what's the easiest entry point 4 Bangladesh, direct entry or byway of India?
      12/10/12
    • Jon Springer: @DJ. I like meeting the smart managers, learning, and writing about them. Also, single country ETFs can be damaging to the country.
      12/10/12
    • Jon Springer: @x-oil. Yes. 1st trip. Planning to go 2nd time this summer along with Bangladesh & Bhutan. Best to fly via Bangkok; avoid ugly India transit
      12/10/12
    • Jon Springer: @DJ working on generic emerging mkts interview with IFC and interview with IFC backed fund manager for Bangladesh launching 1 half 2013
      12/10/12
    • x oil -field: @Jon Thank you for reply & update, btw keep up the great work on the overseas market coverage.
      12/10/12
    • Jon Springer: To be clear, IFC backed fund will be pvt equity, but he will give perspective on country, and (FM) has Bangladesh as top 10 country held
      12/10/12
    • Jon Springer: @DJ interview with IFC published today (finally) http://seekingalpha.com/a/o8at. Eli Hoffman rated it "inspiring" and "superb".
