I admit that this is a cursory analysis, using several blunts measures: (GDP which is revised and revised and revised) and total tax receipts as a percent of GDP.
I could have looked at lead lag relatonships. Presumably tax rates today will affect growth going forward more than growth today. But how far forward. Is that lead lag stationary through time? I would presume if it exists that the lead lad time has been shortening as the economy has evolved.
Tax rates and the change in tax rates tend to be pretty stable and to trend. I will take a quick look at the delta in tax rates as it relates to GDP and present here. My hunch is that we draw the same conclusion: That headlines and politicians over state that impact that tax policy has on growth, earnings and market returns. Thanks for your thoughts. DP

Moving from 15% to 18% or 21%to 24%.
or
GDP in 15% periods compared to 24% periods.
