I called HOPE NOW out of curiosity. I was barraged with more mortgage brokers who had no idea about any FHA involvement; only more usuory. This is propaganda.

  • Bets On A U.S. Recession Receding [View article]
    Larry,
Did you publish this to stimulate an incredulous response? How many could perceive a six-sigma event ? It is hard to separate percecpetion from the crowd even agaist a-historical circumstances unfolding, the classical conditioning of more cheap credit is presumed to work. At this point, with the US economy gasping for breath, more credit is as good as snake oil. Truly this isn't a recession - it's a Japan-style depression.

  • Is Oil a Bubble? Part 3 [View article]
    Jordan,

The masses so deftly believe virtually anything; now the chant is environtmentalism uber allis. All the energy we need lies untapped so that we can give our grandchildren a pristine wilderness and an impossible debt. As my teeth lengthen, so too does my cynicism for all inforamtion "officially" distributed. If it weren't really happening, it would make a great sit-com in a more rational world. Thank you.

  • Euro Shakeup: Trichet Hints at Raising Rates [View article]
Why shoud the ECB bail us out by dropping rates? Our Central Bank has built a house of fiat credit that is collapsing while the world watches. For the sake of keeping up a good front, we have decayed from within.

  • Are Subsistence Wages Killing the US? [View article]
    Fxtrader,

You are spot on. The "free market" has allowed Wall Street to suck the marrow out of America and create middle classes around the world to feed their habit. Instead of statesmen we have freelance profiteers with little to no regard for what once was the greatest nation the world has ever seen. Our best days are a fading memory.

  • Bernanke Today: Economy and the Dollar [View article]
Dollars are going up because of the credit implosion - they're fewer of them. This is deflation inaction. Look around to see how many things that you neither consume or combust are going up.

  • CNNMoney’s ‘Depression Comparisons Misguided’ Shows It’s Imminent [View article]
Everyone equates a depression to 1929 but a more recent version is Japan 1990. The breadlines and 25% unemployment will not occur but the multi-year deflation will.

The intersection we recently passed was between allowing a necessary deflation to happen or threaten an ugly bout of elevated, perhaps hyper inflation. In a rare moment of lucidity, the Feds seem willing to let the dollar's value stay above the price of the paper it's printed on. But their spine is oh so pliable.

Look around to see how many things you can't combust or digest are going up. The oil game is just a sideshow to whip up a few bucks while there are enough weak hands still in the game.

  • The Bear Market Has Just Begun [View article]
Bill, the cheap-money bell has everyone trained like a Pavlovian dog. The incredible deflation offset of 900 billion in fiat shows a morbid fear that the Fed will lose control of their inflation monopoly. Consumers are broke and will buy less - that means deflation. As painful as it will be, it is necessary to restore some value to the buck before it descends below the value of the paper it's printed on. Look for falling prices and great buys for anyone with disposable cash.
