I think it is a good sign that we aren't even talking about the survival of Fannie and Freddie anymore and we've moved on to politics. I'd prefer that Fannie and Freddie become fully private. Then these topics can be covered with discussions of government subsidies on sites like Mother Jones, instead of Seeking Alpha.

Please share the pro forma EPS number. I believe this is the exit door. Ackman's plan provides the politicians with an exit strategy.

That's actually a safer trade than what I am doing. I'm buying put options that have an expiration date. I don't believe anyone can argue that there is unlimited upside on Treasuries, the way you can with stocks. Could be wrong.

  • Why Does Ackman Think Fannie Mae Is A Ten Bagger? [View article]
"Ackman, speaking at the Sohn Investment Conference in New York, said the shares of the companies, both of which are now trading around $4 a share, could be worth $23. A better case would be for them to trade around $47 a share, he said."

Yes. It says they "may buy without limit."

Many of the ones that are still solvent still hold shares.

Actually, the J-C bill is saying that they would need $500 billion in equity capital on assets of $5 trillion. This worst case loss estimate is saying that they could function with 4%. $5 trillion times 4% is only $200 billion. So, make it 5% and then they will at least have an extra $60 billion.

Hank Paulson and George Bush, too by that logic. Fault lies in both political parties.

Hank Paulson in 2008 told CBS that taxpayers would be paid back before shareholders received a penny. Well, here we are. Taxpayers are paid back. When does the government uphold their end?

They will need to settle soon, or injunctive relief will be forced by the lawsuits. My opinion only.
