  • Fannie And Freddie: Deficit Reduction Tool Or Mortgage Market Future? [View article]
You may have noticed that the debt ceiling debate is coming up again. If we have a US downgrade like a few years ago, that may actually push rates lower. We could see the turmoil actually create a situation where the GSEs report another huge derivative loss. And the US will be unable to send them money.

I am not a lawyer and that is why I do not write about it.

You should find someone with a legal background that supports that view and then write a story about it.

There is no good reason to partner with the government anymore. Unless you think there are some level headed people there that may eventually set things on the proper course. This issue will probably be resolved in a crisis.

The best reason to invest is that you believe in the system and think the rule of law will eventually prevail on behalf of shareholders.

This is the first time I have received that feedback. Since I don't know you, I am inclined to ignore it. But if anyone I know agrees with him, please let me know.

Stegman is a slime ball who literally makes me sick to my stomach. The portfolio has unbooked gains in it and this will only help reduced the government's deficit while ensuring the housing finance system remains leveraged at 800 to 1.

Thank you for mentioning Fannie and Freddie. This is funny government accounting and may be an unconstitutional taking of private property.

Sounds like something Watt, the board of directors, or the CEO could do. One of them needs to show leadership.

The excessive leverage and ridiculously low capital levels are a problem for the system according to Fannie's CEO.

"BY Dow Jones & Company, Inc.
    — 11:00 AM ET 02/20/2015
11:00 EST – Fannie Mae ( FNMA ) CEO Timothy J. Mayopoulos says during the 4Q conference call that the mortgage financier’s dwindling capital reserves, which are being wound down under a government agreement, may increase the chances of a need for another taxpayer infusion. "

  • Home Building Stocks: Are They Worth It? [View article]
"Attributed in part to risky mortgages being distributed by Fannie Mae (OTCQB:FNMA) and Freddie Mac (OTCQB:FMCC), the federal government had to step in."

No offense, but this is incorrect. It's a viewpoint held by about 10% of experts and those people work for right wing think tanks.
