  • Will India Be The Next Domino To Fall To Apple? [View article]
Just curious, have you ever been to India? My random guess from this article is - probably not.

There was an interesting article a few years ago about the launch of the iPhone in India. While there were lines everywhere, at the only store in Delhi selling it, there were a couple of bored cows munching waste paper outside the store.

That pretty much sums it up for Apple in India. Have you ever read the comments threads in India's largest newspaper The Times of India, when they review Apple products? It is one long chain of mockery and disdain.

Even among Indians in the US, the highest per capita income ethnic group (yes, even more than whites) in the US, Samsung/Android holds a far greater sway than Apple

  • Tesla's Powerwall Adds Unmistakable Value [View article]
Those "solar roadway" (har, har) people should sell their idea to Musk....

It almost seems to me that Musk is running some kind of mass pyschology test to see just how much gullible people will believe...

I thought with the hyperloop he jumped the shark but no the pit of gulliblity is deeper still...

When this guy finally cracks into a thousand fragments of glittering lies, it will be spectacular...gyokusai indeed...

  • Wall Street Breakfast: Global Bond Slump Continues [View article]
Lord Timmy to flunky : "Strike deals like with video content companies like the music deal. Tell them to give me low cost video and let Apple TV become dominant platform like iPod and then I'll dictate pricing to content providers"

Flunky (returning and bowing low): "Sire, content companies have found the internet and other streaming platforms such as Roku, Chromecast, and thier own streaming services. They do not wish to submit to being our slaves"

Lord Timmy (grasping table until knuckles are white) "But...but...I have a product announcement to make in a couple of weeks that every video content provider is going to financially disembowel themselves for the sake of Apple dare they not follow the path of the music providers! Where be Sir Jony Ive?"

Flunky (sinking lower on his knees) in a whisper "Sire, you exiled him to the Wall for designing a watch with cheap failure prone components and a heart rate sensor that doesn't work when a person moves"

Lord Timmy (nervously feeling his neck) "I can't keep paying tribute to Baron Icahn who is camping at the castle gates unless I squeeze more from the peasants. Alas, we have no new magic weapons and our enemies are growing stronger by the day"

  • Yahoo streaming Bills-Jaguars game; price tag believed to top $20M [View news story]
I wonder if the NFL is fixed too...if soccer is fixed, cricket is fixed...and I strongly believe the NBA's refs get marching orders on what teams should get the calls...I wonder about the NFL...a few years ago I saw a superbowl where the seahawks appeared to lose to a fixed referee...

That would just kill DirectTV stock...they would lose a good chunk of their subscribers including me if the NFL sunday ticket fell out of favor....

I agree with your thesis. I saw a luxury watch maker. He was quite uncomfortable. He was having cramps in his side from laughing at the Apple Watch.

  • Wall Street Breakfast: Greek Debt Deal Talks Intensify [View article]
I ...predict there will be a "breakthrough" on the night before any "default" by the will involve "tough measures" and "austerity" and money laundering of German money via the ECB to Greece...

The "tough measures" and "austerity" will amount to nothing and next year, we will repeat this joke...

I remember Tesla's stock surging on it being "profitable" a few quarters ago...Elon Musk's language put's Bill Clinton's "it depends on what the meaning of the word 'is' is" to shame... to anyone with a smidgeon of engineering knowledge, the whole battery swap farce, the hyperloop farce, the utility battery storage farce, etc are clear... Musk's biggest product is selling hype to the ignorant...

  • Icahn, Herbalife And Betting Against The Government, An Open Letter [View article]
I've seen the hundreds of billions in profits. Last year the bonus pool at the major banks was $130 billion. Seven years since 2008 is nearly a trillion. And you talk about tens of billions in fines.

  • Icahn, Herbalife And Betting Against The Government, An Open Letter [View article]
Why would the government want to go after Herbalife for taking millions (or a few paltry billions) from willing victims, when the same government is not going after the investment banks, which are stealing hundreds of billions (if not trillions) from a completely unwilling public?

Therein lies the weakness of Ackman's strategy. He needs the government to act. No amount of publicity he generates, will stop the willing victims, who, remember, are also wannabe perpetrators, from parting with their money.

I used to think the Herbalife distributors were unwitting victims, but now it is clear that anyone with even a modicum of intelligence, will, within five minutes, realize what Herbalife is all about. There are no unwitting or unwilling victims here. So why are we all beating our chests and tearing our hair, to help people, who know exactly what they are doing? Their only failure in their own eyes, is the failure to lure more victims - that is why they seldom complain to authorities.
