    • Ronin.: Interesting article. I have not liked profit-less strategies....to me, they are industry destroying and ultimately anti-competitive...

    • Ronin.: Google takes its dominance in search and damages the mobile industry by making expensive things free. MS did the same in multiple areas...

    • Dennis Baker: This just seems like the kiss of death. Kindle Fire is somewhat polluted by their marketplace; Nexus is the Android lover's dream toy.

    • Dennis Baker: Maybe they figure if they screw over their Android partners, they can salvage their Apple relationship and make a profit on mobile again.

    • Ronin.: Haha, funny...Android became a windfall for Sammy, but not Goog, so they are trying to become both hardware and software...like...guess who?

    • Ronin.: MS doing the same...stuck with Nok for 5 min, then let everyone in on it...then figured they wanted both the hardware and software...Surface

    • Dennis Baker: I think Redmond is in Pure panic mode and has been for about a year. The myriad of Windows 8 devices is genuinely confusing to consumers

    • Ronin.: Yeah, Ballmer seemed to admit that Apple has freaked them out...they see PCs going mobile without their legacy products...

    • Ronin.: It's what happens when you rely on a "locked in" customer base year after year without providing added value...when the game changes..oh oh

    • Dennis Baker: The Nexus 4... seems like a crazy cool phone. The iPhone 5 was my first smartphone, if the N4 had been 2 months earlier, I'd own one now.

    • Dennis Baker: Mostly... I don't like 2 year contracts.

    • Ronin.: I meant enterprise being stuck with useless Windows and office revamps for decades....MS milked that far too long...

    • Ronin.: Then, when they need change, they no longer have the capacity within anymore....tho, I give this latest effort, win 8 some credit.

    • Dennis Baker: W8 is a weird mix. Someone built a neat new UI; then turned around and bolted Windows onto it. They had the chance with RT and blew it.

    • Ronin.: Yeah seems to be failing in sales, and too bloated...but my standards are low for MS...almost is better than I expect from them....haha

    • Dennis Baker: For years users didn't have any option so Microsoft cashed in. There is a lot of pent up frustration and people are leaving in droves.

    • Dennis Baker: 100 million iPad users, 120-130 million by Jan. That's 1/5 Windows 7. Everyone looks at iPhone, I think iPad is going to be as big in 2 yrs
      11/18/12
    • Dennis Baker: iPad is ramping quicker, has way more marketshare and the app/ developer community advantage is much more compelling.

    • realornot: Nexus is doing well. I don't see AAPL will die anytime soon. Go visit Apple stores! They are once again packed with buying customers.

    • Ronin.: Phones seem good enough on the hardware, tho software could be better. I see iPad becoming more significant, and having more room to evolve.
