I currently manage an investment portfolio for a corporation based in Oklahoma City. I am also a founding partner of Paratus Capital LLC. Paratus is an investment partnership that consists of myself and two other financial professionals. I have undergraduate degrees in finance/economics and I also have a MBA. I am currently a level 3 CFA candidate. My investment philosophy/style is value driven. I follow the investment holdings of Joel Greenblatt, Bruce Berkowitz, Michael Price and other money managers with similar investing styles. More specifically, I like that they look where others are not looking. The market will be less efficient the less known or in style something is. I like to use boring, under followed or undiscovered companies as a starting point for some of my research because their returns aren't always so boring. That isn't to say that I don't like companies that are taking advantage of growth opportunities, I just make it my number 1 priority not to overpay for that growth/expectation. I favor companies that have generated a historically high ROIC. I focus exclusively on the cash component of earnings. I spend significant amounts of time researching potential special situations as well. I believe that with investments, and most things in life, success happens when preparation and patience meet opportunity. I tend to do more research than I feel as though I actually need to make an investment decision, but I like doing things that way. I do significant amounts of international travel for business and personal reasons. I have international work experience in which I worked for a non-profit in New Zealand that promoted entrepreneurship through hosting/planning different types programs/events.

I am the founder and CEO of a successful NYSE company that returned 22% annually to its IPO investors over a 13.5 year life as an independent company. I have been a director at three public companies, a trustee of a major college and of a science museum.
I manage my own investments, and tend to be a contrarian. I try to look at companies from the perspective of their ability to grow long term cash flows and also whether they are efficient in using capital.
I have been successful as a trader, but prefer investing to trading.

I try to adhere to the investing priciples laid down by Graham and Buffett, but sometimes it is difficult to control my emotions -- cash not yet invested is often burning a hole in my pocket.
Since my portfolio is small, it might be the best to go with a simple index fund, but I like to learn about the world around, and thus I occasionally analyse a few companies and buy some small pieces of them. My ultimate goal is to create an income stream that would allow me to safely retire.
In my professional life, I am a mathematician (graph theory, combinatorics, algorithms), a teacher (computer science and mathematics courses), and an IT developer (mostly programming in Java and Python).
I am a State Certified General Real Estate Appraiser, as well as having two designations in business valuation. Recognize that in writing for Seeking Alpha, I am not acting as a business appraiser, since a business appraiser must be impartial by definition. I am active in the stock market, and have either been member or chariman of several not for profit endowment funds.
