  • Facebook buying VR headset maker Oculus for up to $2.3B [View news story]
Yep you are right Tales, it's been around forever, the problem with bringing it to market was always that it made too many of the wearers have the equivalent of motion sickness (nausea, dizziness, lightheadedness, headaches).

So now I wonder what Sony and Oculus have done to crack this code and make it marketable to the masses.

  • Bloomberg: F-35 faces yet more delays due to software issues [View news story]
Should have just scrapped the attack version and kept the A-10, keep the F-22 for the air superiority version. There I just saved us 1 Trillion dollars lol.

And beef up the drone program for air superiority capabilities, all kinds of money could be saved be taking the limits off by requiring an actual human in the cockpit.

  • Sony's Virtual Reality Headset May Put An End To The Television [View article]
Virtual Reality has been around since the 80s but the problem with it was all motion sickness. Glad to see Sony has finally solved the puzzle.

Anybody remember the movie Total Recall? Won't before long before it's a reality (pun intended).

  • Microsoft Just Killed Itself, Apple Wins Again [View article]
Apple lacks the enterprise infrastructure to hook all those apps into the backend of existing businesses, or the cloud.

But oh wait, guess who does? That's right, Microsoft.

So they not only boost the both lines through Office, now they enable.

Microsoft has always been about making interoperability between product lines as easy as possible, and will be the clear middleware winner here.

  • Why Seeking Alpha Embraces Pseudonymity [View article]
Would be nice to see some the commenters get some kind of recognition, there are some commenters that are amazing like mbkelly or Tack, who don't write articles. Though would have to be a way so people don't game the system. That has happened on a lot of technical forums where a lot of people start spamming bad info just to get forum points.

Good point Wall Street Teacher, maybe it can be a lot more granular like you suggested, and there's a lot of click-baiting that does go on just to get the page hits.

I think it's a great idea, but the problem with that is everyone has a different holding period. If everyone was buy and hold forever, it would be a great idea but some people might only hold for a few days, some weeks, and others years.

Now that I'm primarily options-driven, my holding time fluctuates all the time depending on market conditions and how the stock is doing. Or I can't predict when I enter the trade, example, an analyst downgrade comes along on MSFT, the stock drops 5%, I HAVE to jump in that morning with little to no warning or I miss my window of opportunity.

    Great job Eli and staff.

Let me ask everyone this? What exactly is the difference between someone posting an anonymous Stocktalk here and a major hedge fund posting on Twitter ("I just had lunch with Tim Cook") or putting out a 3 hour hit-job presentation on a particular stock (the Herbalife Pyramid scheme presentation comes to mind)? Or an analyst downgrade?

If anything, those nuke bombs of information have more of an affect on markets than StockTalks, which are subject to scrutiny by everyone on the site, who have the ability to challenge the StockTalks

Seeking Alpha levels the playing field, any of us can run due diligence and publish it to the masses without having to have the resources of a huge fund or be an analyst with a big firm. If we are talking BS, then we are immediately called out on it in the comments for everyone to see.

This has happened in every single industry over the past decade as traditional centralized information structures have lost power to more decentralized structures where people don't need major media outlets to disperse information and analysis.

And as Eli mentioned, the Socratic debate here is amazing, people always say the comments in the articles are often more helpful than the article. In many cases the article simply serves as a vehicle to spawn learning for everybody.

  • Using Thinkorswim Scan Tool With The 10-20-30 Strategy [View instapost]
Todd thanks for the comments! I've personally found the 10-20-30 works well for big blue chips (dividend growers mostly). I don't use it on the quick moving stocks, like the .com tech stocks he does in his examples (think those were a product of the times). For me, the blue chips are a lot more forgiving and offer a much greater margin of safety in case the trade goes against me, I have so many options to adjust, or if I choose to take assignment it's not so scary. Now taking assignment of a speculative biotech is a scary situation !

    Hi avelinodesousa !

Thanks for the great comment and very happy that it has helped out ! I like the 10-20-30 and Bollinger Bands trades as they are simple for me to follow and not too complicated.
