    30 and under 100k portfolio.

    Introduction

I recently found Seeking Alpha few months ago while I was on a backpacking trip. Sounds funny but I had a lot of downtime at nights while traveling, so I actually spent more time on researching investing then before. I now spend more time on Seeking Alpha than any other websites and as a reader and an investor; "A big follower of Integrator http://seekingalpha.com/author/integrator" I decided I have to start writing articles on my own and I also just achieved 100k in my investment account (mostly from my own contribution), I believe this is a good mile stone to start. Hopefully I can get some feedback on some of the actions I took and make few friends along the way.

For being 29 years old, I would say I have always managed my money pretty well, as in spending and saving. I was introduced to stocks at a young age of 21, however I wish I could of done better with investing. I only completed few transactions, the best thing I did was looked at my portfolio crashed in 2008 and didn't take any action. I believe I need to get more investment educated and be more active; currently I am employing the dividend and growth investment strategy.

    Portfolio

The title of this article is 30 and under 100k portfolio, the reason I choose this title is to attract younger readers. I found most articles are from more experienced investors, I believe a lot of lessen experiences investors out there like myself would want to share and gather information about investing at a earlier stage. Hopefully at least one person out there can benefits from this article.

As a young investor that is somewhat financially secure, I take on a passive aggressive approach. My core holding are companies that will be around at least 20+ years, and I also added in some riskier stocks.

Here are my end goals for this portfolio

    To achieve $1,000,000

    Generate $2,500 avg monthly dividend.

Why $1m? I think it is only because that is the gold standard of net-worth of the general public, $1m does not mean much in 2013, especially by the time I approach it. However setting a goal make things more interesting, I do not have any big plan on what I would do with the $1m.

As for the $2,500 monthly dividend, I think that is what a person with a decent education and work ethic would generate each month. If my portfolio can generate $2,500 a month, I feel I have raised a person to a mature growth person to work for me.

I will achieve these goals from monthly contribution of $2,000 and reinvest dividends.

Here are the current holdings in the portfolio.

Few of my holdings are popular among the DG community such as KO, MCD, O, T and WMT.

I picked up AAPL at a pretty good price point; AAPL is one of the companies that I think may not be around 20 years, I tend to dislike tech companies however I think AAPL is safe for now, but I wouldn't pick it up at current price point.

AGNC is another risky play for me, and as listed it. I only purchased with $3000, my normally purchase point is at $5,000. I purchased it for the low entry point and the dividend it pays.

BP is a pick that bothered me for a while; I knew I had to hold either one of CVX, XOM or BP. As a LONG time investor I think BP will bounce from the current low in the long run but it hasn't yet. I will need to see if this pick will work out for my portfolio later.

I know I am extremely overweight with PBA; actually I invested in PVX which is the one of the very first investment I bought. I kind of just let it sit there and it turned out a pretty good investment also it pays a decent monthly dividend.

Here is my current yearly dividend, and it average out at around $400 a month. It is still really far away from my goal of $2,500. If $2,500 monthly income is an adult working for me, currently my portfolio is like a teenager working few hours a week at the mall.

    Watch list

I have $5,000 right now and I placed an order on JNJ last night but it didn't hit. I am sure I will pick something this week, most likely JNJ or CLX.

Here are a watch list that I feel will become part of my portfolio only depends on when.

CAT, CHL, GIS, KRFT, LO, PG, PM, WFC

This is my very first article, hopefully there will be many more to come. Looking forward to answer all the comments.

Disclosure: I am long AAPL, AGNC, O, MCD, KO, BP, PBA, T, WFC.

Additional disclosure: Just a guy with common sense that wants to learn.
