    SCCO uses zero cost collars and copper swaps. SCCO looks at the LME copper prices for its hedging positions but compares that price to the COMEX price which it looks to sell at. According to the 3Q 10-Q, estimated Q4 2011 copper sales covered by zero cost collars is 30.2%. Swaps will cover an estimated 17% of copper sales in Q4 2011.

  • Why Bill Gross's Mistake Is Excusable [View article]
    Bill Gross was on CNBC's Larry Kudlow Report on August 30th where he mentioned debt from foreign countries are attractive. He mentioned Brazilian 5-year bonds yielding 11%, Canadian 5-year bonds yielding 1.7% and Mexican 5-year bonds yielding 5.4%, are all places to look at. What is interesting is his mention that Mexico and Brazil have a cleaner "dirty sheet" as both have half the debt the U.S. has. He has a point and I think Brazilian bonds are a very attractive.

  • Bank of America (BAC) shares rocket higher after announcing a $5B investment from Berkshire Hathaway (BRK.A). BAC will sell 50,000 shares of cumulative perpetual preferred stock with a liquidation value of $100,000/share to Berkshire in a private offering. The preferred stock will carry a 6% dividend.
