Alexandria Real Estate: High Dividend Paying REIT [View article]
(ARE) has cut its quarterly dividends from $0.80 to $0.35/share. Furthermore , it seems that (ARE) never really paid much of a dividend yield - at its peak in 2007 and 2008 trading around $100-$110/share, it never yielded much. It does seem that besides selling the stock, and putting the proceeds into something more promising, covered calls are the only way for shareholders of this reit to generate any decent income from the stock.
