I believe, as many other likely do, that investing pertains to understanding the underlying business, and sticking to this approach, and demanding reasonable performance here and now (as opposed to "potential") is the safest best way to build lasting wealth. I read everything I can find from and about Warren Buffett, not because he was able to amass great wealth, but because of the lessons he leaves behind through his works and/or actions. The biggest lesson I believe he taught me was from a challenge he left students at Columbia University, telling them to read 500 or so pages a day in trade journals/annual reports/etc. in order to gain his level of insight.
