Congress To Examine FDA's Handling of GlaxoSmithKline's Diabetes Drug [View article]
"What is our risk/benefit ratio these days?"
the FDA makes that choice for the patients everytime they evaluate a drug. A congressional investigation is most definately needed so that the FDA can establish a set rule on this risk/benefit issue.
The FDA's function as an agency needs to be re-evaluated so that proper definitions of risk/benefit (and even the level of efficacy) are established for the various ailments when making their decision to approve a drug or not.
Also, an investigation was brewing for a few weeks now regarding various (horrible) decisions the FDA made due to their inability to differenciate risk/benefit. This aspect of the FDA (or lack there of) desperately needs to be investigated.
