Good review. Here's hoping the next quarter doesn't have any challenging dividend cuts or freezes. You're a great leader in following the plan. Best regards my friend,

  • Bogle On Favoring Dividends And Capitalizing Social Security [View article]
    Dave

I've been retired over 5 years now and am still about 2 years away from being able to draw social security, even early. About the only down side I can think of to retiring early. ha.

Like you I use my pension in looking at my asset allocation. I'm 100% in stocks on my non-fixed income. Looking forward to using social security to add to the mix in a couple more years.

Excellent article and certainly an editors pick. Well done.

Just keep in mind that monitoring price action too closely can lead to itchy finger syndrome (along with night sweats, body malfunctions, and various rashes - ha). Fundamentals and valuation not so much I think. Just my opinion though.

I love owning businesses that outperform. Or even those that perform consistently.

The limited time was very limited. It's already sold out. No future printings are planned... :-)

    Top Notch

Thanks. I'm glad you liked it. I was wondering if anyone would pick up on that when I wrote it. I really didn't think any of the younger digital age folks would recognize it from the old advertisements and commercials.

"I agree with a lot of the article."

Wow, Retail. I'm not sure what to think, we're usually polar opposites on philosophy. Basically what I hear you saying is that you're a trader, not an investor, maybe not a very short term trader but still trading.

In essence I suppose we're still opposite philosophically since the majority of my investments are long term BAH, collecting income, whereas a small portion of my portfolio is set aside as trades to be sold when they become over valued. About an 80/20 split. My BAH is intentional whereas yours isn't. Feel free to correct me if I view that wrong.

    Thanks for reading and commenting.

What can I say, I'm a simple kind of guy. I try not to make things more difficult or complicated than necessary. Sounds like we have a lot in common. Thanks.

Thanks. You are correct, we absolutely have to monitor and not freeze up when it comes time to take action. Careful, thoughtful, and deliberate actions will help improve our performance over time.

Glad you caught the humor intended in my "offer."

    Thanks for reading and commenting,
