Well said. Pulling demand forward is always going to work wonders short-term. But, is it sustainable? I am sceptical.

I actually agree with you that this is a ceremonial firing. Fritz Henderson and the rest of the gang are all lifers and should be able to handle things. Over the medium term Henderson and company can take things on from here.
Irrespective, the dismissal of a CEO sets up power struggles and jockeying for position. Add in the change on the board and no clear lines of authority are going to be in place during this crucial period. I think that is a mistake.
