  • The Past, Present, And Future Of Alcatel-Lucent [View article]
    Hello there,
I would rather call it a speculation at the moment. I know that ALU is going through regional spin-offs, but Lucent spinoff is probably the last option. Nevertheless Motorola has gone through that and half of it was purchased by Google. So, it is still a possibility.

Why do not you suggest an alternative rule where the author is paid premium if s/he receives enough likes? It will have the same affect without damaging anyone.

Analysts rarely become historians. And at the beginning of the last quarter we stand bullish on Nokia. Here is the proof:

It could have been, but it is not trading at 7 Euro at the moment. And I do not think it will ever reach that level.

The thing is it is not written months ago. We remained positive about Nokia until it started slipping back to $2.

  • How Much Is Norfolk Southern Worth? [View article]
Thanks for the comment. Let me explain.

    1) In the above model, terminal rate is '0'.
    2) NPV range is between 72 and 103
    3) The growth rate depends on Morningstar. They are a bit more conservative than Yahoo Finance. But it is better to be conservative.

Thank you for the comments. You are absolutely correct. Fair value is a dynamic concept. We might need to update it after the earnings announcement.

Well. Finviz suggests Beta of 0.51, which shows a relatively low correlation with S&P.

    Charlie,

Is not it amazing? My FED+ model comes with a range about $85 to $125, which is very similar to the range that Citigroup offers. And you do not know what is in their model.

You can also easily challenge their models. Consider the DCF model. They use a Beta of 1.04. Whereas Exxon is less volatile than market, so it should obviously have a lower Beta.

    Charlie,

I would have appreciated if you read the article with less bias. The model suggests that a range about $85 to $125. And the stock is currently at the lower end of this range. The upper boundary is the maximum. This is a moving long-term target. And the model above works well with companies that has stable earnings which is the case for Exxon Mobile.

  • Frontier: What's The Deal With The Dividend? [View article]
Thank you all for the comments. We decided to write a follow-up where we analyzed the trend in cash flows. Unfortunately, our cash flow analysis also suggests a negative trend in dividend sustainability ratios even after the dividend cut.
