  • Tata Motors: Corporate Background for the Attractive Indian Automaker [View article]
Do you really think it will outperform the overall general Indian market? If so, then yes its a good buy, but if you are a little weary of investing in foreign stocks, I'd buy IFN. It has a high dividend and includes Tata.

  • Who Loses From Google Checkout? Not eBay, but Amazon. [View article]
I agree with Eric - I don't shop Amazon for their checkout convenience. If that were the case, I would not be shopping at Overstock, Drugstore, eBay, Expedia, Smartbargains and others. I love their customer product reviews, free shipping over $25, customer service, product recommendations, cheap prices etc.

  • Investing in State-Owned Companies Can Be Risky Business (BP, STO, PTR, PBRA) [View article]
I am a little confused - on one hand you are advising caution against Statoil because it is fighting for Russian markets, yet on the other hand, you have owned it before and would buy it again at dips. If it gets access to Russia, would you advise selling?

  • Circuit City Raises Dividend; Bad Store, Great Stock? [View article]
I wouldn't be surprised if Circuit City decided to go private (like how Linens-n-Things did). There is only room for one Electronics retailer in my opinon and thats Best Buy. I do agree that with lower expectations and an almost bankrupt company some 4 years ago, Circuit City has done well to emerge a stronger player than people expected, but considering that Walmart, Target and Sears also have Electronics departments that take away business from Best Buy and Circuit City, I believe the stock has made most of its move.

  • Tata Motors Making Inroads in the SUV Sector [View article]
Actually, a good friend of mine brought Bajaj to my attention. Not that you can trade that in the US. I do like Tata and its prob the best auto stock out there.

  • California Dreamin': Pacific Sunwear Looks Attractive at its Current Valuation (PSUN) [View article]
I don't doubt that PSUN is undervalued and has years of earnings growth under its belt. But as is the story with the retail sector, once a retail stock goes out of favor, it stays that way for a while. The stock is at 2 year lows and with increased competitiion from ZUMZ and UARM, I am skeptical about its ability to make a come back.

  • Garmin's U.S. Market Share Dominance -- Can it be Sustained? (GRMN) [View article]
I am not concerned with Garmin's lack of market share in Europe. The US alone presents a very large growth market when it comes to Nav systems. I have been bullish on Garmin since March of this year.

  • What the Botox Boom Means for Allergan (AGN) [View article]
I used to be bullish on AGN myself until earlier this year. While Botox is a growing market, this company has not exactly thrived.

  • Bed Bath & Beyond Taking a Bath (BBBY) [View article]
BBBY still has a strong brand presence and the new movie Click might even help boost this quarter's earnings. Long term - this is a strong company and may even be a good buyout target. Short term investors might make a short term profit if an upgrade hits the stock, but longer term investors will only see real money in a few years. Meanwhile, its a low risk stock.

  • The Gaming Wars: Microsoft Trying to Make Life Difficult for Sony (MSFT, SNE) [View article]
Sony has had this "attitude problem" for a while now. They believe in proprietary technology and to this date, no company has been successful adopting such nonsensical philosophy. If the iPod didn't play regular mp3's, they would not have been successful. Sony needs to be that way too. With their memory sticks as opposed to the SD cards in the flash memory area, and their BetaMax as opposed to VHS and now this BlueRay, its no wonder the company has not fared well these last few years.

Yes. This is a low risk stock as I mentioned in my post too. Although, I am not as optimistic about their earnings as you are.

  • Continental Airlines Should Continue to be a High Flyer (CAL) [View article]
Amidst the Southwests and the JetBlus of the world, Continental has been a steady ship. If you look at all the old school airlines of US, Continental is one that has withstood union strikes, gas prices and terrorism fears. I believe its the best run airline in the US.

  • Everything You Wanted To Know About Ethanol Production But Were Afraid To Ask (ADM, HKI, VSE) [View article]
CP - you've hit the nail on the head. I believe two things:

    1) That the State of the Union speech about ethanol was purely aimed at Iranians to send them a message that we have other ways to make our cars run.

    2) That its possible that this is a political matter and supporting the agricultural sector might diversify the republican support base to farm workers and agricultural businesses.

  • Catalysts that Make Grant Prideco (GRP) a Buy [View article]
Thanks for reminding me of this company just as it rests at its 200 DMA. Due to the down market today, the stock is now trading at 11 times 2007 earnings with a PEG of less than 0.5. Great stock.
