Pie in the sky is an appropriate name for the Smart Grid right now.
The cost is going to be tremendous, and although the government should play a big part in such a project, they have other things to think about. Moreover, that expression 'smart grid' seems to have a large number of people who arn't sure as to what a grid is.

Beautiful, I don't know about Spain, but nobody is going to convince me that wind in Denmark and Germany has a brilliant future. In fact, Ms Merkel is one of the most enthusiastic nuclear supporters.

What wind has done is to make electricity in Denmark about the most expensive in the industrial world. Even if you don't read Danish you can find somebody important who will tell you that. As for the wind ambitions of Mr Pickens, the last I heard was that his project was going off the rails because he had a problem finding chumps to put up the billions that it will cost.
