    Shareholders as a group seem to have misbehaved, and now that the chickens have come home to roost, AS A GROUP they are going to take their lumps. The bad part about it though is that the rest of us are also going to suffer.

    The ignorant Swedish finance minister said that taxpayers are not going to bail out one of the GM plants mentioned in this article. That makes sense, although not for reasons that he tells his fellow ignoramuses. Swedes voted themselves into the European Union, and in addition every year they send a big piece of cash to stone-age countries in the Third World. If the money that is going to go to those lost causes went to the auto firm here in Sweden that he says that tax payers would not bail out, it would (ceteris paribus) improve the prospects of Swedes (as a group). I'm sure that the US in in a similar situation, by which I don't just mean those two silly wars that were won five years ago.
