    WolfTimmington - Those are basically the same trade assuming the delta of your option position is close to 1 (around .35 here). Selling the stock and using a call (a replacement strategy) could trigger some unwanted capital gains as well. But a very valid point and a stock replacement strategy is something to take a look at for sure.

    The sentence "April puts with a January 2011 expiration for $20 per contract" should have read "Apple puts".

    The "around 250" comment was meant to be directional. Apple has the ability to move very fast in large chunks (and in fact was trading in the 250's the week before this article was posted) and as such tieing the commentary to "$271" did not add much to the message since is would have been something different by the time I hit submit.
