  • Why I Wouldn't Trade Apple Right Now [View article]
"How about the new iPad announcement? Well, I didn't see anything special about this announcement. How was it different from the previous products? It is an excellent product, but so was the previous iPad. The new iPad did not include any new or revolutionary features or new technology. In fact, the announcement should have been a disappointment. Yet people waited in line to get it as fast as they could."

"... there is no logical explanation for a 30% move in one month."

Nothing different? No new features? No logical explanation for the 30% move?

The Wall St. Journal's Walt Mossberg: A Million More Pixels Than HDTV. "The key upgrades are to those core features — the 9.7-inch screen and the data speed over cellular networks. These upgrades are massive. Using the new display is like getting a new eyeglasses prescription — you suddenly realize what you thought looked sharp before wasn't nearly as sharp as it could be."

Review: New iPad screen is eye-opening upgrade

"What do we know today that we didn't know a month ago?"

Apple revealed late Monday that it sold more than three million iPads worldwide between Friday, March 16 and Monday, March 19. "The new iPad is a blockbuster with three million sold--the strongest iPad launch yet," said Philip Schiller, Apple's senior VP of worldwide marketing. "Customers are loving the incredible new features of iPad, including the stunning Retina display...

Three million sales in four days! And there are questions about why the stock price is increasing???

    What about the new dividend?
"A $10 yearly dividend means nothing for a stock that can move that much in a matter of minutes."

The dividend opens up ownership of Apple shares to a wider range of stock mutual funds, potentially boosting the stock price in the long term. Many "value-oriented" funds are not allowed to buy stocks that don't pay dividends.

More buyers, particularly big buyers would be expected to have what effect on the stock price?

What's next? My guess is Apple will release a Retina display iPhone, and accompanying that will be a much higher resolution camera. Resolution has become the next entry level product attribute. Manufactures products will have to have high resolution displays to enter the market. Mobile devices with low resolution screens and cameras will go the way of the buggy whip. It appears that Apple is the first mover here and everyone else is in catch-up mode. First movers rake off the high end margins.

  • Apple: Too Far Too Fast? [View article]
You can always make money on a timing play, if the timing is right. Apple will be releasing their iPad 3 in early March. Thirty day sales will probably be released in early April. If those sales are good...

I have not seen anything negative about the new IPad.. Why did you pick this particular time for your play?

  • Apple Beats, Shares Jump [View article]
There is a paradigm shift occurring, but hardware just enables the change. The fundamental nature of the paradigm shift is media convergence on mobile/ wireless devices. Apples wide screen tablet coming out soon will compliment their iPhone. Together, these devices will allow Apple to direct access to all forms of media, and their associated advertising revenues. Voice, TV, Tela-presence, Newspapers, Books, Text Books, Lecture notes, you name it and its all converging on a mobile connection device. Apple is finishing up transforming itself into a Media Convergence Company. Of course other companies will start competing, but Apple has the advantage of first mover… that means they will pick up the first movers in the related industries. Its a good time to own Apple.

  • Apple's Jobs Takes Medical Leave; Back in Summer for WWDC? [View article]
I doubt Steve Jobs put off having the needed, obviously depilating series of medical treatments for over a year. It sounds like his doctors finally did find the source of his weight loss. Given the length of time involved to correctly diagnosis the problem, we can hope that means the problem is confined to a limited area.

It’s sad that this very private man, this hero of the personal computer revolution is now going to be subjected to having his personal health turned into a media circus by a group of rapacious legal hyenas.

This is one investor that only wishes the best of luck to Steve and his family in this difficult time. If I loose some money, its only money. What our society has gained because of this man's contributions is immeasurable.
