You can find better technology picks than SALE right now! Not every cheap stock is a value play. :)

  • RetailMeNot -33.7% after Q2 miss, lowered guidance [View news story]
Well, Forward View ate a similar meal following Q1 results. This business is very erratic, and the stock follows suit. When it's up, it spikes and when it's down... the bottom drops!

  • Yelp: Usage Growing, Profits Vanishing [View article]
Thank you very much, Edward. We greatly appreciate your comments. To answer your question, we don't see Yelp hitting that 2017 target without significant improvement in international monetization. The company isn't going to reach $1B in revenue from the U.S. alone. Eat24 and other transaction revenue will certainly help, but Forward View isn't convinced that execution will be stellar enough to build up a billion-dollar business over the next two years.

We agree with you that Yelp has lost many of its early advantages. In addition, we think there's great potential for Eat24 if the loop can be closed, but execution (not the company's strength) will be key. You're right that desktop usage is dropping, but total the number of users is climbing. As with SALE, mobile ad revenue continues to be a challenge.

Thank you very much for reading our research!

If you're a a junior WLT bondholder, you're not going to get anything. If you're a senior bondholder, you might recover something in the bankruptcy. Don't expect much, though.

  • Belly Up: Why Walter Energy Will Be The Next Coal Industry Casualty [View article]
Sure thing Charbon. I don't mind making predictions for the coal industry, but let me thank you for your message. For the record, though, I made the WLT call when the stock was at $15 a share. That call wasn't posted here, but I can give you an email address for a research analyst who will confirm it. Secondly, I called the JRCC bankruptcy 18 months in advance, too.

Now, ANR doesn't need bankruptcy. They just paid $126M for gas properties in PA! They have over $1B in liquidity. Bankruptcy would be just a way to shed debt. The underlying core of ANR, ex the Massey junk, is good.

ACI is swapping debt and will survive as long as bondholders accept the deal. They will, too. BTU needs no capital structure changes, and they're going to be fine. WLB will be the best coal stock, though. Give 'em time!

    Thoughts?
