So, when it comes to forward looking dividend calculations, I will correct inaccurate calculations made by Yahoo Finance based on their own history. I'll also update dividend amounts based on company press releases not yet picked up by a Yahoo or another web services financial report. However, since the stocks above were sorted into the energy sector based on their industry, and I'm reporting sector top yielders , I'm stuck with the bogus (or not bogus) industry class determined by Morningstar/Yahoo for each. Please don't shoot the messenger. I surmise WHX and WHZ prefer to be listed among the energy sector sheep rather than taking their chances among the financial sector wolves.

Thank you. Linda Hertz, for reading and sharing your two monthly pay ETFs. The fund and trust list of 30 above cuts off at an 8% yield. Your fund yields show as 6.25% for PGF and 4.57% for LWC, putting them both off the top 30 list. For ease of compiling your own list of mopay funds, the source of the list above is: http://bit.ly/PdbjRP.

  • Top MoPay Dividend Dogs Seek 14.8% To 89.6% Net Gains In April [View article]
Thank you for asking that question, StockOsaurus. The short answer is it's too early to tell. The market will decide. Here's a rough breakdown:
Dividing market cap by share price shows about 7,540,584 shares of JMI outstanding.
Throwing an additional 6,000,000 shares into the mix puts the company total at 13,540,584.
When all is said and done, I surmise, the market cap will be determined by the share price and the monthly "dividend" distribution will be determined by the quality of the "additional agency and non-agency securities [purchased] as market conditions warrant and the general corporate purposes" funded by the new six million shares of stock issued.

Thank you Kurtwalter and CD for your input regarding AT. As a stockholder I'm hoping to lower my average cost by buying more shares at $5 if AT price ever sinks that low again. We'll see...

Thank you Value Digger for reading ad commenting on my surface scratching overview of this utilities sector as of 5/3. Plainly in-depth research can reveal where wall street wizard "spin" is going the wrong direction. There is no substitute for due diligence.

Yes danceuport2, HCLP appears to be a relatively new company in the right market at the right time. This is a excerpt from their profile: " The company offers raw frac sand used in hydraulic fracturing operations in oil and natural gas wells. It serves pressure pumping service providers. The company was founded in 2010 and is based in Houston, Texas."

Search by dividend yield depends on when the survey was taken. Some sources update weekly, others monthly or quarterly. The best yield gauge is updated daily at closing market prices based on the average of the past year annual dividends. I particularly like the IndexArb.com approach, however, which estimates forward looking annual dividends based on the firm's strength in the marketplace. I use their numbers for my Dow dog charts.

Thank you danceuport2 for your affirmation of my warning not to use these lists as recommendations. Especially these sector dogs may show high yields because their business model is in trouble and investors are fleeing a flawed or failing firm.

Thank you Norman Tweed for your thoughts about CTL compared to FTR. Plainly, some dogs are easier to love than others.

Thank you Norman Tweed. Your buy and hold to drip high yield dividend stocks is well crafted. FTR is an example of a positive outcome for a stock in this sector after a dividend cut. What are your thoughts about CTL?
